Ramis Confirms Ghostbusters Passing The Torch

During a chat about his upcoming comedy Year One, Harold Ramis was grilled by MTV concerning his most hotly debated project; the third Ghostbusters movie. While he didn’t have a whole lot of information to give up, Ramis did confirm that the original Ghostbuster crew would return, but only as mentors to a new team.
I know that this was practically ensured already, but this puts the last nail in the coffin for those holding out hope that the old-timers would be taking the Ecto-1 for one last spin. I’m just impressed that they’re showing respect by acknowledging the original cast at all and not going with a remake. I know that idea may seem inconceivable to some of you, but let’s face it, Hollywood has shown a remarkable tendency to shamelessly neuter its past successes with reboots. Even with that business out of the way, we still have the casting to look forward to, and with Penn, Del Toro and Carrey picked for the Three Stooges it’s anyone’s guess who could be the next Ghostbusters. Discuss your dream team here.

ok…my dream team consists of the following:
NO ONE. DON’T FUCKING DO IT!
Posted by Bob The Slob on April 1st, 2009Paul Rudd would be a sweet ghostbuster. Maybe Jason Siegel. Im sure Seth Rogen would be good too. It seems that it’ll likely be actors from the Apatow pool.
Posted by Captain N on April 1st, 2009Rogen, as much as I don’t want to admit it, would be a good GB. And, I could see Clooney in there too, although he is getting kinda old now.
Posted by bryan on April 1st, 2009This is a pretty tough question. We all adore the Ghostbuster films, and it is going to be hard to find the dry humor of Aykroyd and Murray. Obviously, the Apatow crew (as suggested by Captain N) would seem to be the obvious choice, but I don’t think that their brand of comedy would fit. The only exception would be Paul Rudd because he could pretty much play anything. This is going to be a tough one. I think my dream team would consist of:
Paul Rudd
Orlando Jones
Simon Pegg (Although his Britishness might not work, I just really enjoy his work)
Justin Long
I realize that this list is a little dicombobulated, but this is something that is really difficult to settle on.
Posted by Marcus Mallard on April 1st, 2009Jay Baruchel (nerdy Ramis type)
Posted by Deven Science on April 1st, 2009Ryan Reynolds (dry Murray type)
Seth Rogen (Friendly Akroyd type)
And the piece de resistance, Moss Def (token black guy)
I would like to see Seth Rogan, Paul Rudd, Iaesha Tyler (sp?) and Bill Hader as the new Ghost Busters.
