Japanese Spider-Man! Go!

Like a phoenix from the ashes… If you, like me, are saddened by the cancellation of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Marvel’s decision to host the ’70s Japanese Spider-Man series on their website will help ease the pain. This is one of my favourite tokusatsu, a bizarre reconfiguration of the Spider-Man mythos to accommodate aliens, giant robots, and Spider-Man’s alter ego as a motorcycle racer.
The major comic book companies have been criticized the past few years for failing to take full advantage of the internet. Taking esoterica like Japanese Spider-Man and unleashing it upon an unsuspecting public is certainly a great start, and is one of the few fun things to come out of The House of Ideas in years. I only wish more of the comics themselves were like this.
