Mickey Rourke Confirmed to Appear at Wrestlemania 25… Ringside

Here we go again. It looks like Mickey Rourke is back in for Wrestlemania 25, even though his publicist said back in January that he wouldn’t be participating. The thing is, that statement technically still holds true, since the latest word is that Rourke will only be sitting ringside during the event in Houston, while his buddies, WWE Hall of Famers Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, defend his honour against Chris Jericho!

Jericho issued the challenge earlier this week on WWE Raw, first calling out Ric Flair, who declined to wrestle but instead brought in Piper, Snuka and Steamboat to enter the ring for him. The show ended with Jericho offering to buy Rourke a ringside seat, and then saying that he will not be held responsible for what might happen to the actor and his friends if he showed up. The question at this point is… does anyone care? Rourke won’t be actually wrestling, although I’m sure they’ll work him into the action in some minor way. Since he got snubbed at the Oscars last month, I suppose he has nothing to lose, but this scenario is already feeling a bit sad and not nearly as entertaining as it should be. What do you think? Does this make you want to watch Wrestlemania 25? Or is Randy “The Ram” Robinson’s comeback over before it even starts? Wrestlemania 25 will take place on April 5th.

  1. What do you mean “does anyone care?”?? Of course people care. I care! a 3 on 1 handicap match! Featuring Superfly, Hot Rod and the Dragon with a Nature Boy and Mickey Rourke at ringside? Amazing.

  2. This seems kind of cheap. It was actually pretty cool that Rourke was gonna put on the tights and hit the ring. Naturally the oscar nom became priority but after losing, I figured he’d just do it anyways, cause he seemed to really enjoy it the idea.

Though he did mention a while back about doing something with Roddy Piper involved so I guess it’s not to surprising. Im sure there will be the obligatory minor interference from Rourke, as Jericho will taunt him throughout the match. Though, it would be cool if that did lead to an eventual match.

Really though, I havent watched wrestling in ages. Rourke doing a match or two would certainly get me to watch though, for curiosities sake.
