Vin Diesel Working On New Riddick Movie

While promoting the latest Chronicles of Riddick game, Vin Diesel let slip that pre-production has already begun on the third film in the franchise. While no further details are known at this time, franchise director David Twohy has stated previously that if a third installment was made it would most likely be scaled back to a budget, and feel, comparable to the first one.
As will no doubt become obvious the more I post here at Film Junk, I am drawn like a moth to a flaming car when it comes to what passes for low-to-medium-budget, theatrically released action movies these days. They’re a rare breed as it is, and decent ones are even rarer, so it’s always satisfying to stumble across one of the good ones in the theatre. Such was the case with Pitch Black, an unassuming little sci-fi gem that was dumped in the cinema with little fanfare but succeeded beyond expectation due to good word of mouth. Walking in with zero expectations and coming out eminently satisfied is one of those experiences that makes wading through all the schock worthwhile.
I have yet to watch the second film in the franchise, but if they’re taking the third back to its roots, you can count me in. What say you; is another Riddick movie something to celebrate, or should the character just abandon film for video games?

The sequel was way too overblown and completely changed everything how I looked at the first film. In the first film I thought the characters were human but the sequel then says that these characters are an alien race and throws in a back story and a world that’s waaaay too big. I still liked the sequel, I love David Twohy and find him way under rated as a director. He’s been basically shat upon his whole career, Below is a great ghost story that nobody saw.
Posted by swarez on March 10th, 2009It is strange that they are prepping a third Riddic film cause the sequel bombed but I guess it sold pretty well on DVD and the game was very popular to warrant another sequel.
More Riddick would be very welcome. Not much more to comment. The franchise is pure fun. And fun I like.
Posted by Sly on March 10th, 2009You haven’t seen the second film? Then how the hell do you know what Riddick is all about?
rent or download or whatever you need to do to see the Chronicles of Riddick.. part 2 blew part 1 out of the water. or out of the underverse…. whatever.
Part 2 was immense. Expanded all horizons for what I knew of Pitch Black and the characters involved. If you haven’t seen part 2, then all you know is that a few people escaped a far distant moon orbitting some planet in some part of the galaxy, as they were chased by some alien creatures that hated light.
part 2 pretty much shows you what the WORLD of Riddick is all about. “You keep what you kill”. If they make part 3, then Riddick is ruler of the Necromongers, the race travelling the universe, collecting people and warriors for its vast army that conquers and enslaves all, or kill those who resist.
Riddick kills the leader and becomes leader. Does Riddick continue the onslaught and keep conquering worlds, or does he change the path of the Necromongers and return the enslaved to their worlds or help them find new ones? Wiki states that Richard Riddick may return to Furya, where he was born. Maybe there are other Furyans out there that escaped the Necromonger siege when Riddick was young.
I wonder if he will actually see the underverse…
Posted by RichPea on March 10th, 2009Chronicles of Riddick was f-ing awesome. I dont know why so many critics dump on it. Im also very interested to see where the story goes from here. I remember seeing part 2 at a theater and it was neutered more than Bob Barker at a puppy pound. The unrated dvd version was awesome though. Bring on more Riddick!
Posted by mits777 on March 10th, 2009The responses here have certainly made me reconsider my decision to skip the second Riddick film. I haven’t seen it yet for a variety of reasons, including having a huge pile of unwatched movies to get through and having very little interest in epic sci-fi. One of the things I enjoyed about Pitch Black, other than the creative decisions necessary to make a relatively low-budget sci-fi action movie work, was the ensemble feel of the film. It only really became a ‘Riddick’ movie later. I just wasn’t getting that from what I saw of the sequel.
Posted by Wintle on March 10th, 2009I loved that part 2 brought back characters from the first film. The sci-fi and animated films were ok. never tried the games.
Kyra (Alexa Davalos) is a babe…. DO NOT miss her in the second film. I honestly got sad how her role ended in part 2. and the Riddick character seemed like he was lost afterwards, even though he had just gained an entire empire.
But the moments for her in that movie are yum yum. She’s a beast. A lovely with knives… =D
gotta be another love interest in part 3. and Karl Urban would be awesome to bring back as well.. luv that guys acting (LOTR, Pathfinder, etc).
Posted by RichPea on March 11th, 2009I personally thought “Riddick” was silly as all get out (and massively overblown like swarez said) but I found myself watching it again last time I caught it flipping channels.
Plus it has ridiculous names for things like NECROMONGER and UNDERVERSE. Wooo!
Posted by Snorfle on March 11th, 2009The second movie was excellent, I just wish the deleted scenes could have been finished and restored to the movie. There is also an animated short of events between the 2 movies that is worth watching before watching chronicles. I can guarantee you I won’t go to the theatre to see a sequel but I also guarantee I will buy it on DVD or Blue Ray.
I seldom go to the theatre anymore. Between the overblown cost of goodies, the uncomfortable seats and the pared down running times I would rather buy it and watch it at home with GOOD popcorn and beer. Ever since I got burned buying the first Lord of the Rings movie and then finding out that there were extended versions coming out, I don’t even buy movies when they first come out anymore. Last movie I saw was Ironman and I only went to that because it was at a drive-in. Awesome
Posted by Joe on March 12th, 2009Riddick is the Conan of the 21st Century. Notice how he slumps on the throne in almost the same position at the end of the second movie?
And I might point out several other similarities (being an orphan, being jailed etc.). But then, such a figure is almost archtypal. And that is why he is so easy to fall in love with.
So please: more Riddick for me.
Posted by Shaman on March 16th, 2009I thought the same when seeing Riddick in despair on his throne of power… =)
He was like “now what the hell have I gotten myself into”
I wanna see more elementals, and more about those mind reading freaks they had on the Necromonger ship that told the Lord Marshal Riddick was a Furyan.
Hope it doesn’t go prequel though… maybe a few scenes of some past occurences on Riddick’s home world or some other place where Riddick learned to use and fine tune his prowess.
Posted by RichPea on March 16th, 2009Second movie was really close to being garbage… 6.5/10. The names for things (as mentioned above) are sooo stooopid. “Necromonger?” “Underverse?” Furyon?”, please! They sound like the names an 8 year old would think of.
The “Necromonger” armor was also pretty horrible and detracted from the whole film since there is someone wearing it in nearly ever scene. It was some kind of rubber crap that kind of looked like metal (maybe the audeince was supposed to think it was metal?) and obviously extremely uncomfortable and impracticle.
The only saving grace is the “race against the Sun” and “Kyra” who is a total babe but who is very two-dimensional unlike her appearance in the first film. In Chronicles, Kyra becomes just another hot girl who likes knives which is unfortunate.
Posted by Shut-Up Ed on March 16th, 2009To be honest, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick are the two movie which made me crave a BR Player as they are out on BR since Jan. 2009. They are great to watch over n over again…. thanks to Vin Diesel.
Can’t wait for a new Riddick.
Posted by Tim on March 23rd, 2009The Riddick franchise is one of the best period: If video game and movie houses want to know how to expand on a brand’s lore beyond Star Trek and Star Wars then Riddick is the best. The animated movies (Dark Fury), video game tie-ins (Escape from Butcher’s Bay), and movies (Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick)are one of the best integrated brands I’ve watched in a long time.
The Riddick movie franchise is comparable to the early Aliens franchise as a brand. The first movie was intimate (sci/fi horror) and the second movie was full blown (sci/adventure) in scale. However it has outdone the Aliens franchise in being able to transition over to different media. Hopefully a 3rd film will find another niche in sci/fi genre to delight fans of the franchise.
Posted by Marlon on April 1st, 2009Enjoyed both films, we watched alot of Vins films when we were in the desert kinda helped us to escape the madness. I say a low budget back to basics sequel would be great, but either way im in.
Posted by Bud Spurlock on April 6th, 2009In reality this would be a Riddick 6. Alot seem to have skipped the Anime Addition to the riddick universe, which starts directly after Pitch Black’s ending and leads into Riddick 3’s Begining.
1. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (Video Game)
Posted by neebo on April 8th, 20092. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (video game)
3. Pitch Black
4. The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (Anime)
5. The Chronicles of Riddick
6. Untitled Riddick movie
There were a couple of mass fight scenes (Heliun Prime ground troops VS Necromongers) in the second movie that could have been done better, but the second movie was pretty good. I thought the effects were aptly used for the movie and the CGI wasn’t the main focus of the film. I look forward to another movie in the Riddick series.
Posted by Longview on April 20th, 2009Whatever they do, they need to do it quickly! Lets face it, Vin aint getting any younger, and I want him to still be able to pull of kick butt action scenes and be the baddest Furyan he can be!! I don’t know why everyone rips on Chronicles, I loved it. I saw it in the theater (it was alright) then bought it on DVD (sooo much better) and I will STILL watch it if I find it running on TV! Then of course I have to bust out the DVD after so I can see all the great stuff they left out. So, bring on the Riddick!!!
Posted by BeeBoo on April 21st, 2009*Note* I agree w/”RichPea’s” posting though, hope it is NOT a prequel too much, I want to see where his whole leader of the Necromongers storyline takes him.
loved both movies, and pitch black is easily my no.1 movie of all time, i can’t wait to see how this new one pans out, Riddick games are awesome and expanded an awesome universe even further and even throws in some hints to Riddicks role in the grand scheme of things (note check out how he REALLY got that fucking eyeshine lol)
Posted by Riddick on April 28th, 2009Actually A little fyi for you guys but the chronicles of riddick was the 3rd installment
Posted by Stacks on May 2nd, 20091:Pitch Black
2:Anime: Dark Fury
3:The Chronicles of Riddick
Ok so im a riddick fanboy w/e though, But in my opinion I think the 4th movie should probably go prior to pitch black maybe his actual escape from butcher bay explaining in detail his whole eyeshine deal and how pope joe gave them to him, and it would also go in depth about riddick’s and John’s (merc from pitch black) history in the game riddick stabs john’s in his “sweet spot” so it would throw their history in and john’s bad reputation as a dishonest merc as hinted by hoxie (chronicles of riddick : Assualt on dark athena / Escape from butcher bay) So I think seeing a bit of riddicks history wouldnt be a bad idea at all we can definetly use vin diesel, Xzibit(abott), and Johns from pitch black (whoever played him) I’d especially love to see The chronicles of riddick: The Escape from Butcher Bay.
I’m just curious because it seems like a few of you are idiots, why would you deliberately go looking for sequels to movies you hate so if you didnt like the movie whatever but stay in your own favorite movies and dont come and trash ours and ruin our dreams
Posted by Stacks on May 2nd, 2009Pitch Black was a awesome movie that was one of the few mid to low budget films that are made into instant classics. For the first time in awhile you had a big primal dark character come along to root for that wasnt a “hunk of a guy”, “pretty boy”, or a “ex underwear model”. Just masculine, primal, and very capable of wreaking some serious uncaring havok. Part two, Chronicles of Riddick was ok in its own regard but left you wondering what happened to the magic of the Riddick character. Part one he was inspiring and a had his own draw, yet in part two the magic of the character had to be scripted in because they had msde the character too “Hollywood”. Instead of the big primal beast Riddick, you got the cut and trimmed down Riddick because Hollywood says that the people prefer the characters cut rather than just swole huge. Yeah, because you always have time and give a dam% about being cut and super lean with great abs when your a ruthless killer. You could be concerned with making yourself more capable physically for combat, but the tone looks better. Whatever. If they want a box office hit again they need to take it back to the roots, make Vin put some size back on, and make him the mythical killer he was in part one.
Posted by Lc_hitman on May 4th, 2009I don’t understand why NOBODY seems to get it. Chronicles is not supposed to be a direct sequel to Pitch Black. Maybe that is why the critics gave it such bad reviews also. Pitch Black was a sleeper hit that garnered enough popularity to warrant a continuation of the series but Chronicles was originally supposed to stand as it’s own trilogy. Pitch Black is the introduction to the Riddick character and to that universe kind of how The Hobbit introduces the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Bad reviews and less than stellar box office performance put the chronicles 2 and 3 on hold but good DVD sales and surprisingly awesome video games seem to have resurrected the series. I like Chronicles Unrated way better than Pitch Black and really hope they finish the trilogy they intended it to be. For the love of god though people please stop refering to Chronicles as Pitch Black 2 and realize the series for what it is: a completely seperate trilogy that was introduced by a pretty cool sci fi/horror flick.
Posted by GK15 on May 4th, 2009i think to all people that slag of the riddick because of the names they obversly have no imagenations. thats the great thing about sci fi, is that you can chose to do anything you want. Because nun of this has happend, thats bassicly saying star wars is crap because of the names they use in there films. its much better than watching the same old shit like rambo and all the other army, gangsta, teen-movies and so on. i could go on but wats the point with num skulls!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by mazzive on May 7th, 2009Loved the first 2 movies, I thought the animation could have been better in Dark Fury but the story was good, the video games are great and I can’t wait for the third and possibly the forth installment of the Chronicles of Riddick.
Posted by Dark Black on May 8th, 2009personally i thought pitch black was great, but that the chrones of riddick was far better. im a huge vid diesel fan, and also a huge riddick fan. loved both movies (animated sucked) and loved the first game but havnt played the second yet. the way the last one ended i thought, well we will get a sequel, but it still isnt here. they left on a big clifhanger. i want to know whats gonna happen next already. cant wait for this.
good point above, if you didnt like the movie why would you find your way to this site, i loved both films.

Now, that’s why I DO love him, THIS IS NOT A KIDS SUPERHERO …. he is “real” …. a kick ass dude with a secret past … and ITS VIN BLOODY DIESEL for f*cks sake …. for some reason I love that guy … as much as Christian Bale BEFORE he became the Bat. Does everyone realise that Vin made his own game company because he wanted to make his own own favorite game. He’s a geek with guns …. NO ONE ELSE gets close to this guy.
Have played the game through twice now …. got all 3 movies. About to buy the new game …. gimme gimme gimme.

I loved both Pitch Black and Chronicles, but have to say that I liked the lower budget feel of PB.. So this is good news for me.
You have just got to love Riddick…. I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for him against Roger Federer on Sunday too.. Oh, hang on….
Posted by dawesyboy on July 4th, 2009The Chronicles of Riddick is pure genius, coplements to everyone that worked on the first two movies and i hope a third is on the way.. love vin deisel.. love riddick!
Posted by Padwann on July 8th, 2009The 3rd Riddick movie is an idea I knew was forthcoming, even though the only picture I intened to see was Pitchblack, because the Underverse needs an undoing. The Cronnicles, was picked up as a video with a cartoon Riddick And Pitchblack, what a surprise to find something that had a great ensemble of actors, a wonderful original plot, and great direction. I’m buying everything I can that’s scifi, demonic, fantasy, etc., and director’s cut Riddick moves with material that’s sometimes corny and other times feels like the Bard doing space theater, very interesting all the time, one in twenty movies of the genre, great twisty, turny, moveing thru the universe with new material. I keep watching it again and again, and I never would have found it if not for that video combo. It entertains without using the same stuff over and over again, also great prodution standards. The 3rd movie better get here soon, this time I’m going to the Showhouse.
Posted by Steve Hickey on July 23rd, 2009The real abuse, and usually beginning of the end, of a great movie character, or story as such is actually to rip its guts out and cook some stupid videogame-stew from it…
That said I have to say it it sometimes turns out pretty well when done the other way round, like with “Resident Evil”.
I loved all three Riddick films (when counting the anmation) and can’t wait for a sequel. I, too, hope it doesn’t become a prequel, ‘though.
Posted by Ondrej on July 29th, 2009Personally I much preferred Pitch Black though I still enjoyed Chronicles of Riddik. I felt that the later was trying too hard to impress and neglected alot of the gritty feel that made the first film such a success.
Posted by M Marshall on July 29th, 2009I can’t wait for a sequel though; Riddik has got to be one of my favorite film characters.
I thought Pitch Black was a great movie, then I saw Chronicles and was blown away. Its much better than Pitch Black for a storyline and action. Im ready for another!!!!!

Riddick movie is way too awesome!!!
I’ve seen the Pitch black and the chronicles of Riddick.
Both were amazing!!!
Astonishing!
i’m dying to see the next upcoming movie of Riddick if theres any!
Vin Diesel got it too right for the role and Director David Twohy is incredible!!!
please have the 3rd movie moving on!
Riddick was and is a fresh, original character for both Sci-fi and Action movie goers. I enjoyed Escape From Butcher Bay and Pitch Black was edge of your seat fun. It’s funny because I was talking drunk talk with a friend one night and one subject that came about was how I thought they should do more with The Riddick character…and to my amazement came across Vin Diesel’s comment on the fact. This is undoubtedly a pleasant surprise.
Posted by Mark on August 23rd, 2009To all those losers tossing rocks on this epic movie “chronicles of riddick”, i am comfortable enough to say that this epic movie had a far deeper meaning that those shallow critical brains could fathom.
Posted by Tony B. on September 1st, 2009Never before i had a habit of purchasing a DVD until i saw Pitch Black and The Chroncles and they still count for my only collection of DVD’s that i have ever purchased.
The idea, the story, special effects, shortly everything is truly remarkable. Zealously waiting for the next sequel. Vin Diesel rocks
loved one and two, if a third comes out, I will definitely go see it…….Huge fan of the chronicles of riddick
Posted by bite me on September 1st, 2009i loved pitch black. still love it ten years later and grown up. i loved the characters, riddick (of course), but also jack and abu walid (imam). carolyn was a wonderfully written character, and johns was fun to hate. truly depraved, even in comparison to riddick, who was this nefarious character with more humanity in him than the “good guy”.
i thought the sequel was fun, and i don’t care what riddick is up to, as long as he’s killing people and being the skull-fucking asshole we all love, but i think it went the wrong way. it could have been a lot better if they’d cast rhianna griffin as jack once more. vin diesel even went to bat for her, and she began martial arts training in order to reprise the role, but that other chick got the part, which i thought ruined it a lot. and changing her name to kyra was jarring.
i’d love to see a sequel, but i hope they give rhianna her role back and maybe write it that kyra was never actually jack, that it was all some trick or something.
i thought the necros, while kinda cool, mostly sucked and i found a lot of the action unbelievable in context with the universe that had been developed for pitch black. it seemed that the canon had suddenly changed, so hopefully, with a smaller budget, twohy and friends will bring back the greatness of the original film.
but like i said, no matter which way they go, i’ll go and see it just to watch riddick pick apart anyone that messes with him.
Posted by captain fkn vicious on September 6th, 2009quick note to those who believe that the characters within the riddick universe are all aliens think again and watch chronicles with your bloody ears open! It explains its in th distant future and that they all are human in origin yet like anything through time and colonisation of multiple planets start to vary from one another. thus creating furions, elementals etc. How else would they come up with new mecca being the most obvious hint of being set in the future and also a blatant clue to the origins of all within the films god roll on the rest of the trilogy so some people can actually get a grip on a franchise they seem to love and understand if not just shutup about shit you really dont have a clue about.

also, watch the Dark Fury anime movie (between the two) that’s included on the trilogy DVD. makes the story even better.

Want this.
Posted by Jim on October 29th, 2009The story line of the second movie was great. Are you kidding? It’s science fiction for crying out loud. Who wants total reality when your lost in one of Riddick’s movies. Pitch Black was strange and the girl get’s killed. Number 2, the girl gets killed. Come on, let one of these babes hang in for another movie. I find Riddick a good sci-fi figure and I hope they keep the three full of action. I’m sorry but I have watched the last movie 10 or more times and each time I find something I missed. A message here, some action there.
Riddick is different in his own way. Different is good in a age of cartoon star treks and other simple “G” rated movies. While good they have lost that edge we all look for, or we used to forty years ago. The market has gone cartoon due to marvel and transformers etc. Riddick is hard, alone, tuff, and you never know what he is going to do next. Isn’t that what sci-fi used to be all about?
Not knowing the ending without paying for the ticket?
Posted by mike on November 13th, 2009Is that what we all are looking for anymore? Riddick is off the page, if you get by drift on this take.
Well part 1 was perfect in every way, mainly because it was a very human approach of man vs god vs his path in life. So with part 1 it gave him a character that had nothing but bad luck since birth and then to have him test faith? The story was well written, plot and scene was great, overall it was a very good movie. The thought that he was human i think made the movie have a more realism atmosphere.
Part 2 to me and this is just an opinion was a complete mess. Finding out he’s an alien race really made me upset, kinda threw out the whole realism part to it all. I am sooo tired of Aliens all looking human. lol and im burt out on aliens. Then theres the religious cult the underveres, wich to me was a mess, a bunch of mind washing Goth kids moping around wanting people to join or have your planet obliterated… yeah cmon lame didnt star trek do that with the Borg? all in all the storyline could have done better without all the crap from part 2. in fact any person who can say they like 2 more than 1 cannot even begin to tell anyone what we needed from 2 to like 1 better. His background? if you actually watch and listen to one he stated he was a baby left in a dumpster to die, grew up hard did alot of messed up things from one prison to the next. we never needed part 2 with this alien race background and underverse crap the whole sequal was crap. People who enjoy movies like movies a Human being can overturn the numbers no matter at what the loss! thats why movies like Armageddon, Deep Impact, Saving private Ryan, and movies along that line do Super Big at the box offices. They are human beings that we all can relate to and feel over coming adversity!

its because of fans like you alot of these dumb producaers and directors make such crappy movies these days. look at movies the past 3 years…. GARBAGE yes garbage, and why because alot of them get movie reviews through critics and forums and post like these. so when they hear “oh i wanna see some guy skull fucking a guys skull” and oh my god this race of lame goth kids are soo cool we get more of the same crap.
I personally think the ‘franchise’ as a whole is awesome. Funny though, I enjoyed Pitch Black but I thought Chronicles was freaking kick a**. This whole series totally reminds me of the Conan series. I think they have a number of parallels.
1st Conan & Pitch Black were movies that shed major light on the 2 male leads.
2nd movies were bigger budget, bigger stars in the cast yet didn’t fare too well in the box office.
The stories are kinda similar as well, tough loner with a history(i.e. lost their families due to a tragedy brought on by a person or persons) they both have elements of sorcery and/or magic etc.
Even at the end of both movies (Conan the Barbarian and Chronicles of Riddick), each character has been left with an empire to rule, yet you can see the misery and the weight they must bear on their faces. I just hope that this next Riddick installment doesn’t turn into a Conan the Destroyer.
As for the video games they f’n rule. I think Vin Diesel is a bad motherf*cker! I liked him even more when I found out he wrote a forward for the D&D Anniversary edition as well as being an avid player.
Posted by djronin007 on November 28th, 2009Escape From Butcher Bay: 5/5
Assault on Dark Athena: 4/5
Pitch Black: 5/5
Dark Fury: 4/5
Chronicles of Riddick: 5/5
If you haven’t played the two Riddick games, you have missed a lot. The games actually delve into the character of Riddick and his philosophies, and without their story-lines the character development from anti-hero to almost-hero is missed.
Posted by crest on December 5th, 2009I actually liked that the Chronicles was different from the Pitch. In most cases a sequel uses the same formula and pretty much the same concept, which makes a film rather predictable. Both films held up within their own concept, one is almost horror the other more of a fantasy. I hope that the third doesn’t disappoint. The game was cool too, Diesel is just uber cool.

Posted by agripino on December 9th, 2009Every geek’s made the joke by now about how Pitch Black= Conan, but in space. And Chronicles = Conan the the Destroyer, but in space.
Personally, I like Chronicles for the same reasons I dislike it. It’s overblown, cheesy and falls just short of the ‘epic’ it tries to be instead of being dark and gritty like the first one as well as some severe lacking in imagination for naming places and races.
It was an awesome no-brainer action romp though, which makes it a joy to watch without having to put up with the “subtle messages” most action movies try to have now.
The only thing that does ruin the movie for me though… Where the hell is my Riddick-Vision? You see through his eyes a fair few times during the movie, but only about 3 are with the effect we were introduced to in PB. As well as him suddenly being able to withstand bright lights without the goggles… Man, directors just *hate* cntinuity these days
Posted by Harlequin_Felis on December 14th, 2009Where to start? I’m a sucker for sci-fi, cheese or not. However, I am picky about what I like and don’t like. That which intrigues me and hits it home, I become relatively stuck with. As far as Pitch Black is concerned, I rather enjoyed it. I stumbled upon it while watching the television, and I immediately saw TCOR when it came out. Twice. I agree with everyone as far as the Editor’s Cut being much better. As far as the digs at acting, quite frankly, I don’t watch these movies for the epic acting. I watch them for the plot, the depth, the imagination.
If, and I hope, there is another installment, then I hope it involves Riddick seeking out Kyra in the Underverse, simply because as far as his character seems, Riddick does not seem to give up when a challenge arises. Otherwise, there would have been no Chronicles.
If this is not the direction David is taking, I generally would not mind a preq. at all. I would love to understand more of what I missed between the movies, as they are not consecutive and do not necessarily explain how Riddick got to where he did.
PS- How did he get his shine job???
Posted by J.E.S. on December 19th, 2009Riddick got his eye-shine early on in his brief stay at Butcher Bay. Check out the game, it’s friggin awesome.
Posted by Squee on January 7th, 2010The second film chronicles of riddick is awesome and totally blew away the first. In fact the second is one of the best sci fi films made.. I hope the next one will be along the same lines as the second
Posted by Brad on January 12th, 2010There NEEDS to be a third one! Two is not enough.
Posted by riddickfan on January 16th, 2010Both Pitch black and the Chronicles were awesome and i’m sure the 3rd movie will be a hit!!i hope it’ll be some kind of survival-horror as it was in pitch black and not only action
Posted by S.Fury on January 30th, 2010Riddick was the best SCI Fi movie ever
Posted by Sci-Fi lover on February 12th, 2010LOVED THE FIRST TWO MOVIES,I THINK WE’VE ALL WAITED LONG ENOUGH FOR A THIRD, THE SOONER THE BETTER I SAY.
Posted by RIDDICK DID IT on February 21st, 2010I personally loved both 1&2. I liked were they took the story & began a new mythology. Sorry the budget will be smaller, cause it warrents a top-drawer effort.I’ll be eagerly awaiting the new release
Posted by DARKART on March 1st, 2010Another film about Riddick would be just wonderful… And especially if it will be more like Pitch Black that the Chronicles. The sequel was rather too oversized, too complex and had too much pathos. Behind all those special effects the vastness and severe beauty of Riddick’s personality were hardly visible. And there was hardly any fun in there!
Posted by Ayla on April 12th, 2010Now the first film was simple, agressive, laconic and well … WOW!
I think it has been too long since we saw the guy))) WE WANT NEW RIDDICK FILMS!!! XD
I LOVED the first two movies and a new Riddick film would be AWSOME!!!!
Posted by Rachael on May 10th, 2010Another film that is more like Pitch Black than The chronicles would be a lot better because the chronicles was a little bit too crazy i would say but still it was awsome. I hope the new riddick film will be just as bloody as the first two because the more the gore the better it is. As long as Riddick kills them. LOL
Posted by Riddick Lover on May 10th, 2010I did not like the necromongers but riddick killed them so…GO RIDDICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Riddick Lover on May 10th, 2010I hope the new riddick film will be about him and his escape from butcher bay…. I have the game and his escape was awsome… and it will show how he got his eyeshine. GO RIDDICK… he is HOTT!!!

Posted by Riddick Lover on May 10th, 2010for me riddick story felt like conan the barbarian in a way…an anti hero warrior that always gets into advantures facing other people from low life merc to a self proclaim ruler of the univarce…surviving monster of alien encounter and finaly became a king…i think its save to say that riddick is a sci-fi version of conan the barbarian…cant wait where the 3rd film will take riddick…
Posted by joker on June 29th, 2010Swarez Your comment was worth a pile of shit. This is the 4th riddick for anyone who didnt know. #1 Pitch black #2 Dark fury #3 Riddick. They sell the trilogy at any store in any state or country. just because #2 is animated doesnt mean it doesnt count. It stay true to the story line vin does the voice for riddick it goes pretty scify but it gives you a picture of what happened inbettween movie 1 & 3. To say the least riddick is the shit! and vin was the best actor for the role for sure!
Posted by Lord40oz on September 24th, 2010I would love to see another riddick movie.. i would actually love to see AVR: alien vs Riddick… he would dominiate it.. this would be a must see movie.. Vin diesel is awesome in any role but this would top all i’m sure.. what person out there doesn’t love a good AVP movie and can you imagine.. the alien vs riddick.. i mean come on.. you would be setting at the edge of your seat with a movie like that…
Posted by Amber on February 17th, 2011The Riddick series is a very interesting science fiction franchise. The character of Riddick is very well written. The series references astronomy and personally, I am happy to have these films with an anti-hero and I hope the series continues to produce many more Riddick films.
Posted by Magdool on March 28th, 2011I think Pitch Black was a great movie, it had alot of action and drama and showed what type of character each person was and Chronicles of Riddick was the icing on the cake great great movie shows more on who Riddick is and finds out more about himself i think there definatly should be a part 3. People who love these movies and love Vin Diesel deserve it….:)
Posted by Mommaz on March 29th, 2011I actually feel really bad I forgot all about Riddick! Just recently I found the dusty DVD that had every film at a friends house and I have watched Pitch Black and the Chronicles like EVERYDAY this past week. lmao. I was the same way when I got the DVD when it was new a couple of years ago. My boyfriend and his friends pick on’em, calls Vin a brick wall. But I don’t care if Vin IS a brick wall in most of his movies, he does Riddick perfectly. At first I laughed at the names of stuff, but about the fourth time watching it I realized it all fits pretty well.
As you may guess I will be SO upset if this new movie doesn’t come out. I really don’t care what it will be about, because I’m sure it’ll be pretty darn cool. Face it, this reality SUCKS compared to the Riddick world.
Plus. I hate to jump on that overcrowded band wagon. But Vin Diesel is purdddyyy sexy playing a alien criminal….
Posted by Kate on July 4th, 2011I love the sound of Vin Diesel playing in a new ‘Riddick’ movie. That is where I saw him for the first time. I have loved him ever since. Please keep Riddick alive!
