Re-Animator Remake Goes 3-D

Jeez… you get one 3-D horror remake that makes $65 million and suddenly it’s the next big thing. Thanks to the moderate success of My Bloody Valentine 3-D, apparently now we can expect every single horror remake currently in development to change its course and add 3-D technology as well. I guess it’s irrelevant that My Bloody Valentine was released in the middle of January, without much competition (aside from Paul Blart, of course). Just last week we reported on rumours that Michael Bay’s remake of The Birds was aiming to go three-dimensional, and now this week we are hearing that a Re-Animator remake is also going 3-D as well.
Shock Till You Drop reports that producer Ray Haboush (The Last House on the Left) is heading up the project, along with Brian Yuzna, who produced the original and directed the sequels. Stuart Gordon does not appear to be involved in any way. Last we heard, they were moving forward with a sequel called House of Re-Animator starring William H. Macy. I’m not sure if this changes those plans or not, but I think I’d rather see the sequel personally. What do you think about a Re-Animator remake? Is it a good or bad thing that 3-D is now becoming a prerequisite for horror remakes?

Terrible, just a cash cow for lack of new ideas in the Horror Genre.
How can you improve on one of the best 80s bonkers Horror Movies, without Stuart Gordon or Jeffrey Combs in his prime this is gonna be a joke.

One of the things about films by Gordon, Lustig, Henenlotter, and of course, Jackson, is that most of the charm came from the fact that they attempted intricate gore set pieces on noticeably shoestring budgets. If you take that away and add CG flying everywhere half the fun is lost.
