Super Capers Trailer

Does the world really need another superhero spoof right now? No, we don’t, but a few things caught my eye in the trailer for Ray Griggs’ Super Capers, even though I didn’t find it very funny. Number one… Adam West. Yeah, he’s old, and desperate for work, but he still rules. I just wish he was playing an actual character instead of riffing on Batman for the thousandth time. Number two… Michael Rooker. From what I can tell, his character, The Dark Winged Vesper, is the main villain of the movie. Michael Rooker also rules.

Unfortunately, the rest of this trailer is pretty painful. Most of the cast is made up of unknowns (including writer/director Griggs himself as “Puffer Boy”), and the jokes are stale and obvious. Was that really a parody of Agent Smith from The Matrix in there? Oh my. Listen, I love The Tick, Mystery Men and even James Gunn’s The Specials, but after watching a few episodes of the new British series No Heroics, I am realizing there’s not much ground left to cover here. I’ll always be open to a well-written comedy about superheroes, but just relying on silly costumes and funny powers is no longer enough. Super Capers hits theatres on March 20th; check out the official website for screening info. The trailer is embedded below, or you can watch in HD over at Apple.com.

  1. It looks like shit, like 99% of all other spoof-movies.

  2. Wow, that guy just took a huge step DOWN from starring in Dungeons & Dragons

  3. ok…looks bad…but what the hell was the deal with that BACK TO THE FUTURE van, it had the vents on the back, the time switch, and a flux capacitor…is that a joke?

and I dont think of that guy at the dude from Dungeons and Dragons, I think of him as the guy that was caught masturbating in Serial Mom.

  4. “It looks like shit, like 99% of all other spoof-movies.”

    wrong. MODERN spoof-movies.

Also very ironic coming from someone named Nielsen.

  5. So because I am named Nielsen I have to love “Naked Gun” or what?

So if I just happened to be black I would also have to love KFC and watermelons? Fucking moron.

Also I don’t find any of the spoof movies from the early 90’s or 80’s good either. They’re just a different kind of shit.

  6. kasper, i was just pointing out that it was ironic that you hate spoofs and your name is Nielsen…that’s all…it’s ironic. In no way was that a statement of fact, a jab, or some “absolute” I was trying to prove (all people with the same names as celebrities love their work! genius). You’re the fucking moron for your dumb-shit example comparing some racial stereo-types to what I said above. Maybe if you had said something akin to “If my name were Elvis would you also think I love blue suede shoes”…except that you would still be forgetting I said the word IRONIC. Worthless pile of snot. Good job on the come back to a NON-insult ya humorless fuck.

  7. Nielsen. If racist stereotypes have taught us anything is that black people love fried chicken and watermelon. I heard they love weed as well.

And I think everybody got the joke but you. Well maybe you got it but decided to respond like a douche anyway.

  8. You are all losers for arguing not only with people you don’t know but on a website. Grow up.
