Weekly Poll Results: Best Horror Remake

No big surprise here, but in last week’s poll John Carpenter’s The Thing was voted far and away the best horror remake to date with over 43% of the votes. Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead was second with 14.5%, followed closely by David Cronenberg’s The Fly. I was a bit surprised to see The Hills Have Eyes all the way up at #4, while The Ring held down the #5 position. What’s the deal though people… Invasion of the Body Snatchers, only got 3.2% of the votes?! I think this flick deserves a little more love. Are there any other decent horror remakes that we missed in this poll?
1. The Thing — 43.5%
2. Dawn of the Dead — 14.5%
3. The Fly — 13.4%
4. The Hills Have Eyes — 7%
5. The Ring — 6.5%
6. Halloween — 5.4%
7. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre — 3.2%
7. Invasion of the Body Snatchers — 3.2%
9. The Grudge — 1.6%
9. The Blob — 1.6%

I think I voted for The Fly, but in my mind it was a tie between that, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and The Thing. I’d like to see Jeff Goldblum do another sci-fi/horror movie. He was pretty good back then.
Posted by Mason on February 18th, 2009Dawn of the Dead? SERIOUSLY? Wow. Other than the opening 5 minutes, celebrity head shot scene and closing 30 seconds, the movie was pretty shitty.
The Fly = Absolutely Awesome, I’d put it even better than THE THING. Ditto on Body Snatchers.
Posted by Kurt on February 18th, 2009Invasion of the Body Snatchers would have been my 1st or 2nd choice, what a great film. And it still holds up and doesnt feel dated at all.
