WTF: Will Clark to Direct Pride and Predator?!
I’m so confused. This morning I woke up to an actual headline in Variety implying that there is a movie in development called Pride and Predator “which veers from the traditional period costume drama when an alien crash lands and begins to butcher the mannered protags”. Huh? Is it April 1st yet? How is this possible? Should I just go back to bed?
The movie is being produced by Elton John’s Rocket Pictures, and directed by a guy named Will Clark, who previously helmed a short film called The Amazing Trousers. The trailer for this film is embedded below and it looks pretty wacky. Alex from FirstShowing.net explains that the copyright for Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice has expired and is now public domain, which means it’s free for anyone to adapt in any way they see fit. Uh, okay, but has the copyright for the Predator franchise lapsed as well? And if they’re not referring to the actual Predator franchise, then isn’t someone going to get sued? There’s also a book coming out later this year called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies that has reportedly ignited a studio bidding war. I still refuse to believe that any of this is happening. Someone wake me up on April 2nd. (Props to MiCaH for making this poster way before the movie actually existed.)

I had read about the P&P Zombies, but the Predator thing is news to me. But who fuckin cares? If the movie is half as good as that awesome poster I am SOLD!
Posted by Andrew James on February 17th, 2009I think this “Pride & Predator” and “Pride & Prejudice & Zombies” is going to be a short lived, and annoying fad. I hope to God they do it well, and I am shocked at how cool it turns out. But I highly doubt it.

I think they should go with an all new alien.
