Michael Moore’s Next Film is a Bailout Documentary

You know what they say… where’s smoke, there’s fire. And where there’s controversy, you know Michael Moore is going to be somewhere in the middle of it. Ever since his 2007 film Sicko, he’s been keeping things on the DL, although he did release that tour documentary Slacker Uprising last year. It was also reported at one point that he was working on a Hurricane Katrina documentary, but that turned out to be Trouble The Water, a movie directed by Carl Deal and Tia Lessin, both of whom were producers on some of Moore’s previous docs.
Although there was speculation that he might tackle gay rights for his next film, it appears that another more juicy opportunity has presented itself in the form of the current economic crisis and the U.S. government bailout. Michael Moore recently posted an open letter on his website asking for some people on Wall Street to step forward and help him expose the truth about the financial industry. Not much else is revealed about the film, but he does mention that he won’t be doing a “romantic comedy”, as previously stated (huh?). In general, this seems like a logical topic for Moore to tackle, and I’m sure he’ll bring a lot of attention to the issues like only he can. Whether or not anyone will actually take him seriously is another story. Personally I just want someone to dumb down the whole thing and try to explain it in laymen’s terms, because I still have no clue what the hell this bailout really means and how it is even possible. What do you think, is this a documentary you want to see? Is the world sick of Michael Moore yet?

Michael Moore and his boring rhetoric are so passe. It must be awful for him, now that the Democrats are in power, there is no need for a muckraker like him.
Posted by Jon Rocks on February 11th, 2009I don’t have any problem with Michael Moore and I look forward to his tackling this topic. Sure, his films are clearly slanted but he does expose things that we usually dont know about and it allows for good discussions to follow. Glad he is doing this other than the gay rights one. I dont see that as necessary. Did you guys get the new pic up of Bumblebee yet? Check it out here and feel free to link if you like. Enjoy.

The Rake
Posted by The Rake on February 11th, 2009he doesn’t expose anything. It’s going to be the same thing. Bush’s fault, conservatives are evil, it’s all the republicans fault, while fawning over Obama. This bail out is socialism in it’s truest form but will that be said….Not with this fat piece of shit.

Posted by swarez on February 12th, 2009I like Michael Moore films, he’s slanted as hell but then most documentaries are.
I’m sure he’ll do his best to make this whole issue understandable for the public.
It would be nice if the Moore bashers knew what they were talking about, I mean
“It must be awful for him, now that the Democrats are in power, there is no need for a muckraker like him.”
The last time the Democrats were in power, he released Downsize This!, had TV Nation and Awful Truth as TV series and released The Big One in theaters to good reviews, a movie about downsizing.
Fact is he’s never been a Democrat bootlick, there’s mountains and mountains of evidence and hours and hours of tape to prove it. its just that in the last 8 years he’s hated Bush so much that he’s for anything to move things in a different, even if slightly more liberal, direction, even if its not his particular way.
“This bail out is socialism in it’s truest form”
its ironic that it took capitalism off its leash to usher in those bailouts. all that deregulation and failure to account for things led to this. i find it so funny now that these people crying socialism are at least partially to blame for it. but yeah, you just want to complain about Moore pointing fingers without recognizing the Republicans had 8 years and it went down in flames.

Speaking as someone who has gay relatives and friends who even in Canada, even in Toronto, face hardships because of their sexual orientation, i’d say its highly necessary, even vital.
