The Taking of Pelham 123 Remake Poster

Say what you want about remakes and the lack of originality in Hollywood, but when it comes right down to it, I think most of us can’t help being curious to see a new take on an old classic. One remake that I’ve been cautiously looking forward to is Tony Scott’s The Taking of Pelham 123, starring Denzel Washington, John Travolta, Luis Guzmán, John Turturro and James Gandolfini. I had kind of forgotten about it until I saw this new poster over at Joblo.
Yeah, the poster is pretty bland and the sight of Travolta’s name kind of worries me, but I still think that Tony Scott is the right man to direct this. As long as he doesn’t go all Domino on us, this should be an enjoyable summer flick that sneaks up on us amidst all the other major titles. Look for it in theatres on June 12th.

Posted by Bob The Slob on February 10th, 2009Travolta looks pretty bad-ass in the poster!
Posted by Bas on February 10th, 2009What? Denzel Washington is just going to do his same old cop thing? Damn the original had Matthau in yellow suit looking like a shlub … I mean can there be non-badass looking badasses anymore?
Posted by Ian on February 10th, 2009I’m stoked to see Gbenga Akinnagbe (aka Chris Partlow from the Wire) in this shiz. So Travolta is playing the Robert Shaw character? Yeah, that’s kind of scary. But I guess it’s possible he could not totally suck.
