Robert Rodriguez Might Be Doing a Predator Reboot
If it bleeds, Hollywood can kill it. There’s a rumour making the rounds this week about a new Predator movie possibly being in development. Hey, they’ve been talking about an Alien 5 for a while now, so why not another Predator too? At the very least it would be a better direction to take than to continue with the insipid Alien vs Predator series. The thing that really has a lot of people taking notice, however, is the name of the possible producer for the project: Robert Rodriguez.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios will be producing the movie for 20th Century Fox. It will supposedly involve more than one predator, and it is being described as (you guessed it!) a “reboot”. I’m not quite sure how to process this news. Rodriguez has had his name attached quite a few projects over the past year or two, so I have to take it with a grain of salt. On the other hand, it doesn’t seem that hard to believe either. All I know is there’s a big difference between the original Predator and the AvP movies, and Rodriguez is a fan of digital special effects. That’s clearly not the way to go here. Does a Predator reboot have any hope of succeeding?
Update: According to The Playlist, this is actually a 14-year-old script called Predators that Rodriguez wrote back before he shot Desperado. And it’s just being dusted off now. Weird.

Posted by Nemesis on January 30th, 2009I have seen the original Predator over 400x and im ready for a new one to be released. But it will never be any good unless there are no people involved only predators hunting! preferably Aliens or Dinosaurs.
