Help Out Film Junk By Filling Out Our Podcast Audience Survey!

I’d like to start this post by thanking all of the people who have been listening religiously to the Film Junk Podcast over the past little while and telling their friends about it, because it’s really starting to pay off. Our listenership has been increasing steadily over the past few months, and it’s all because of you. In particular, I’d like to thank the many people who have been voting for us over on Podcast Alley, where we quietly became the #1 rated podcast in the TV/Film category, and the #15 ranked podcast on the entire site for the month of January! Amazing!
Moving forward, we are once again looking for ways to improve the show and keep the momentum going. In order to do this, we need to have a better idea of who is listening. That is why we have set up a Podcast Audience Survey through Podtrac. It’s just a general questionnaire about you and your podcast listening habits, and we’d really appreciate it if you could take 10 minutes of your time to fill it out. On top of that, if you have any specific suggestions or ideas for the podcast, feel free to leave them in the comments below. Thanks!

Congrats guy’s! You deserve it! After all, you are literally the best movie podcast on the net.
Posted by Drew on January 26th, 2009Done! (some questions seemed weird however)
Posted by Stefan on January 26th, 2009You can count me as a listener who has just recently discovered the podcast. I came across the show via an iTunes browse and first downloaded an episode which, by chance, featured Reed Farrington. I have to say that his unique voice–in manner of speaking and actual speaking voice–is what initially grabbed my attention. Since then, I’ve further found each personality to be well-defined, even more so than in podcasts I have been listening to for many months. Keep up the great work!
Posted by Nick on January 26th, 2009Hey guys. Excellent podcast you’ve got going. /Film’s podcast has nothing on you, celebrities or not
It’s not the content but the personalities that is the big draw. If I just wanted to listen about movies I could get such info anywhere, but it’s only on FilmJunk that I can get this sort of great entertainment.
Keep up the good work!
Posted by Kasper F. Nielsen on January 26th, 2009Filled out the survey. I’d recommend Film Junk to all my friends, but they all hate the whole concept of podcasts
Posted by Bas on January 26th, 2009Thanks guys… much appreciated.
Posted by Sean on January 26th, 2009I did my part. *thumbs up*
Posted by Itchy-Finger on January 26th, 2009My only suggestion for the podcast: smash Reed’s VHS collection…I understand why people keep laserdiscs (they look cool) but tapes are insanity!
That’s right. I’ll enjoy the show a lot better if I knew Reed wasn’t hording cassettes.
Posted by Ryan M. on January 26th, 2009Did it. By the way, could you guys recommend an insurance agent and/or hotel for me?
Posted by Jon Rocks on January 26th, 2009I voted 5 for food recommendations. I wonder if I will ever taste Poutine.
Posted by Henrik on January 26th, 2009Speaking of the podcast. Where’s the new episode?
Posted by swarez on January 26th, 2009The new episode will be up shortly.
Also, we are going to be starting a new feature on the show called “Insurance Agent of the Week”.
Posted by Sean on January 26th, 2009how about doing the show while driving around in a car?
Posted by Delirious on January 26th, 2009ever since i discovered your show (8 months ago i think) it has been my favorite thing on the internet! Sean, Greg, Jay, you guys are very interesting individuals with intelligent opinions on the subject/realm that is film. keep up the good work!!
Posted by cronenfly on January 27th, 2009According to Nick, I’m an “attention grabber”! I think I’ll print out Nick’s comment and post it on my fridge. Oh, wait, was that meant as a compliment?
Ryan M., we should have everyone send me their VHS cassettes. That’ll ruin Film Junk for you for sure! BTW, I have several laserdiscs! I also have several of those RCA videodisks that look like 33 1/3 RPM vinyl LPs inside a hard-shell plastic case. I’m still looking for a player for these things.
I noticed cronenfly didn’t include me with you guys who are “very interesting individuals with intelligent opinions.” My feelings are hurt.
I should try guest starring on other film podcasts.
Posted by Reed Farrington on January 27th, 2009I have a few of those RCA discs as well. You can get players, unused on Ebay for change.
Posted by swarez on January 27th, 2009I rated a “5″ for Real Estate Advice. By the way I have been doing some grassroots promotion for the show by mentioning film junk on some podcasts i’ve been on. I even got you guys linked on another site! Just my way of giving back.
Posted by Drew on January 27th, 2009I told my mom….and she left
Posted by rus on January 28th, 2009Wow! Pretty instrusive questions there. Looks like they’re feeling people out to see how much available income is available. I’m sure they’d like to charge people who seek their entertainment on the internet for free.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Posted by Tomas on January 31st, 2009Are you talking about us charging for the podcast? That’s certainly not the plan. The survey just gives demographic info so we could eventually look for sponsors if we want. But it also gives feedback we can use to improve the show.
Posted by Sean on January 31st, 2009No Sean, I’m talking about the internet powers. Not you.:D That survey is very corporate based and probably based on many, many other sites as well. They want to see how many internet leeches there are and how much disposable income they have.
Posted by Tomas on January 31st, 2009They want to know what kind of audience you have so that they can match an advertiser for you. There’s no conspiracy theory here Tom.
Posted by Sean on January 31st, 2009Ahhhhh. I think once more people abandon pay television they’re going to find a way to make extra coin off the internet. There is profit to be had.
