Quentin Tarantino Talks Changes and Additions for Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

Well we’ve been hearing about it for years, but I think a lot of us have long since given up waiting for Quentin Tarantino’s definitive combined cut of Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2. Now that Inglourious Basterds is in production, it’s probably going to be at least another year before QT even has a chance to sit down and think about releasing the so-called “Whole Bloody Affair”, but the good news is that it’s still there, somewhere in the back of his mind.
In a recent interview with The Quentin Tarantino Archives, he said that there is actually some new material being added in the form of a new 7-minute anime sequence, described as “The O-Ren Chapter”. This confirms what Uma Thurman said last year about it. On top of that, however, there are also a number of small changes/additions that are being made to Kill Bill Vol. 1. (These are also reportedly in the Japanese uncut version of the film.)
- Klingon proverb quote replaced with a dedication to Master Filmmaker Kinji Fukasaku
- House of Blue Leaves fight in colour, much more blood and gore
- Anime scenes are gorier
- Sofie Fatale loses more limbs
- No “baby” cliffhanger ending
- Short (music-accompanied) intermission between two parts

Posted by cronenfly on January 20th, 2009meh. this is easily my least favorite tarantino flick. i enjoyed the movie enough when i saw it in theaters, i don’t think i need to see it again. it’s no death proof.
Posted by Joel on January 21st, 2009It’s probably my least favorite too, but my least favorite QT movie is better than 95% of anything else out there. I do wish this would come about, but QT churns out a film about once every two years and with all the stuff swirling around in his head and all of the tidbits he “leaks” out of his mouth, it’s a wonder anything ever gets done at all.
Posted by Andrew James on January 21st, 2009Don’t kill yourself waiting for something extra that wasn’t good enough the first time around.
Posted by Laserbeard on January 21st, 2009Treat yourself right and pick up a Lone Wolf and Cub flick.
I recommend Lone Wolf and Cub “Baby Cart on the River Styx”. Watch it without taking notes, like QT did.
Posted by Laserbeard on January 21st, 2009Kill Bill 1 & 2 were really poor in my opinion. QT has this inbuilt get-out clause; when the acting is really bad in one of his films everyone says ‘yeah but it’s meant to be like that – don’t you get it ?’. Well I for one don’t. Yes, Pulp Fiction and Res Dogs were genius, but they were 14 years ago ! The guy is running on fumes.
