[REC] Region 1 DVD Release in Canada This Month

When a teaser trailer for [REC] 2 hit the web last week, I bemoaned the surprising lack of a Region 1 DVD release for its precursor, which is long overdue. A horror flick this good needs to be made available to as many people as possible — especially when there is an inferior English-language remake floating around out there (okay, I’m only ASSUMING it’s inferior because I haven’t actually seen it yet). Anyway, ask and you shall receive: a company called Paradox will be releasing [REC] on DVD in Canada later this month!

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find out any other information about the release, so I have no idea if there are any extras on the disc. There also doesn’t appear to be a Blu-ray version planned at the moment. Regardless, if you’re a horror fan who lives in Canada (or knows someone who does), you’ll definitely want to pick this up. The DVD hits stores on January 27th, but you can pre-order from Amazon.ca now via the link below.

  1. yeah Sean the remake is a pile of shit. i saw it when it came out not knowing what the hell it was. So how good is REC anyway?

  2. Fantastic! I’ve been waiting for this so I’m super happy to see a release update. :)

  3. According to bloody-disgusting.com, the release will be bare-bones but does have (surprisingly) a “dubbed audio tracks” (sic). I just hope they leave the original Spanish soundtrack as an option, too.

  4. Will this ship to the US if I order from the .CA site?

  5. Apparently it hits Rogers video in Canada on the 20th? Not sure if that’s just for rent or if it’s also for sale, or if it’s a typo.

  6. I’m from vancouver, bc and I picked up the release today from wal-mart of all places. A little disappointed at the lack of special features but whatevs.
