Leonardo DiCaprio to Star in Beat The Reaper

Looks like Leo’s got yet another new project in the works as New Regency have acquired the rights to the book Beat The Reaper by Josh Bazell with DiCaprio in mind to star. The movie will be a co-production with DiCaprio’s own Appian Way company, and is just one more in a long line of flicks that may or may not happen anytime soon. It seems like Leonardo DiCaprio has enough movies lined up to keep him busy for the rest of his career.
Beat The Reaper is about a former hitman who goes into the witness relocation program and becomes a doctor in Manhattan. Unfortunately, things get out of control when he a former associate recognizes him and threatens to reveal his true identity. The premise reminds me a little of A History of Violence, which isn’t a bad thing. The book just hit stores this week actually, and it seems to be getting good reviews. Anyone out there reading it? Either way I’ll see just about anything DiCaprio is in nowadays, and I’ll be interested to see if this project progresses any further.

not only “A History of Violence” but also “Boy A.” This story is starting to wear thin. It’s Leo, so I’m sure it will be decent, but enough with the witness protection program stuff.
Posted by Andrew James on January 8th, 2009Looks kind of cool, but I’m too excited for Shutter Island to think about anything else that he’s involved in. Or maybe Akira. What the hell is going on with Akira anyways? Is that still happening?
