This Week on DVD: Pineapple Express, The Wackness, Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.0

Hitting stores this week we have whole slew of high profile DVD releases, most of which underperformed at the box office. I’m guessing the top seller for the week will be the Seth Rogen/James Franco comedy Pineapple Express, but movies like Righteous Kill, Babylon A.D. and Bangkok Dangerous are all movies that people skipped in theatres and just might give another shot on DVD (not that I’d recommend it). Also out today is Season 4.0 of Battlestar Galactica, just in time to catch you up for the show’s final run of episodes, along with Season 2 of Adult Swim’s Frisky Dingo. picking up BSG 4.0 and Duckman.
For people who didn’t pick it up, the BSG set includes the “Razor” movie they put out last winter. Kind of an ‘aw geez’ moment for me when I saw that there.
Posted by Goon on January 6th, 2009I am slightly intrigued by Caligula (never seen it) but the runtime is kinda daunting. I imagine the disc may only be good for the Double M commentary and skipping scenes.
Posted by Ryan M. on January 6th, 2009Youtubed Caligula…
…I’m remembering I’m not up to watching notoriously horrible and violent movies for the sake of it anymore.
Posted by Ryan M. on January 6th, 2009Sean, have you seen Frisky Dingo. Picked up both seasons, I know you liked Sealab 2021 (same people behind it), at least until the middle of season 3. I’d say its even better, a bit unlike other Adult Swim shows because of the ongoing narrative that would leave any new viewer dumfounded if they started halfway through.
Similar humor, and its a binge watch. its like a 2 and a half hour Adult Swim movie. That would be a nightmare to some, but for me it was right up my alley. Great watch.
No features though on the first season. Drag.
Posted by Goon on January 8th, 2009Yeah Frisky Dingo is awesome. I went out looking for Season 2 at Best Buy today but they didn’t have it. I guess I’ll just have to take my business elsewhere.
Posted by Sean on January 8th, 2009unfortunately the company that makes Frisky Dingo, 70/30 Productions, has gone out of business. No more Frisky Dingo, and the Xtacles spinoff show is also now done. And I think they only aired like, two episodes.
