Greg…Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake are actually real life brothers. Just like Macho Man Randy Savage and Leaping Lanny Poffo are. I looked up Celebrity Wrestling on Youtube and yeah, a bit overboard. I prefer to keep my memories of old school WWF memorable.
Posted by Baychuk on December 23rd, 2008Savage and Poffo are indeed brothers. Terry (Hogan) Bollea and Ed (Beefcake) Leslie are not.
Posted by Greg on December 23rd, 2008Seriously, Greg? I know they are related….cousins? Because I remember when Beefcake was in that windsurfing accident where his face was crushed and it was revealed in a news report that they were related. I thought I remembered them as “brothers”.
Posted by Baychuk on December 23rd, 2008Argh you guys got to see this movie. It’ll be awhile for us hicks in Northern CA. But we’re reviewing all the other Dirty Harry movies in January to ready ourselves for this one.
Posted by Ian on December 23rd, 2008I was slightly offended that Greg thought I was going to ask what you guys were asking for for christmas.
Posted by Drew on December 23rd, 2008Hey Drew,
You might already know this (and it might not apply to you,) but Netflix also has a service that allows you to stream movies using an Xbox360. The quality is o.k. for movies that don’t rely too much on flashy special effects and is perfect for watching old b&w classics.
Just a friendly heads up.
Peace
Posted by Section 31 on December 23rd, 2008Thanks man, I don’t have an Xbox 360 just because of the fact that I don’t play video games very often, so I wouldn’t be able to stream it from there and thats why I had asked for the stand alone Roku. I had planned to use it to catch up on the classics anyway so the quality probably won’t bug me too bad. Once again thanks for the tip.
Posted by Drew on December 23rd, 2008Never mind Greg. I found a good FAQ on Bruti.

And Jay, I just found out that the Roku actually does play certain things in HD
Posted by Drew on December 23rd, 2008Beefcake is Hogan’s lackey, nothing more. So is one of the Nasty Boys, Brian Knobbs.
Posted by Goon on December 23rd, 2008The Asian people in Grand Torino were Hmong not Korean. There’s a big difference.
Posted by Optimus Prizime on December 26th, 2008on the http://www.filmjunk.com/podcast/ version of this page, there is a dot missing in the link of the file download.
Posted by Goon on December 28th, 2008Thanks Goonie, should be fixed now.
Posted by Sean on December 28th, 2008I’m still catching up with the podcasts due to being away from vacation.
Just a quick note that I agree as well that foreign films get away with overt sentimentality and American films get raked over the coals for them. That includes Kurt, who has a hate on over and over again and will call ‘pander’ at anything sentimental/sympathetic (ie. Lars and the Real Girl) but seems to make excuses for a number of other films that didn’t come from Hollywood, or didn’t start known actors/writers.
Posted by Goon on January 3rd, 2009that Gran Torino song at the end is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard.
anyways, re Zack and Miri, I think there are a number of people who dont want to tell their parents or girlfriends or whatever they are going to see a movie called Zack and Miri Make A Porno, so that may have had a tiny dent – but really aside from the release bungling, I think there is a Rogen pushback under way already, and even though you guys liked it, a lot of people were underwhelmed by Pineapple Express, so maybe people were not ready to go check out another Rogen movie at the time.
Posted by Goon on January 4th, 2009Invitation to Rusty here
I also just wanted to point out to him with this movie and a few others I railed against recently, that even though I disliked it immensely, I still advocated people to go out and see it
