Rachel Weisz Being Considered for Catwoman in Batman 3?
Hey, it’s been a while since we heard a good casting rumour for the next Batman film, so let’s dig up some dirt, shall we? Last we heard, Philip Seymour Hoffman was basically a lock for The Penguin, Johnny Depp was signing on the dotted line for The Riddler, and Angelina Jolie was the obvious choice for Catwoman. But hold on a second there. We also know that those reports were full of crap, and that Angelina Jolie is planning to head into semi-retirement soon anyway. Well this week E! Online gossip columnist Ted Casablanca claims to have some juicy inside info on another femme fatale who might be stepping into the role of Catwoman.
According to him, Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, The Fountain, Constantine) is the one being considered for the part. This would be a slightly ironic choice since she is engaged to Darren Aronofsky, who was in talks to take over the Batman franchise at one point. This is definitely a rumour to take with a grain of salt (Casablanca says that “Weisz’s name is so early on, not even Weisz’s publicist claims to have knowledge of the casting”… how convenient!). Personally I can’t really see it, but then again, she would probably do a better job than Halle Berry did. Why is everyone assuming that Catwoman is going to be in the next movie anyway? As far as I know, none of the villains have been decided on. Thoughts?

I just hope they either a) stop making batman altogether or b) cast a “realistic” villian. I don’t want to see Mr. Freeze up on screen again but something like Catwoman, The Riddler, or even Two-Face (we all know he’s not dead) would definitely work. The new Batman really makes you feel that these villians could actually exist in real life and if they did an over the top villian it wouldn’t work
Posted by twililghtfox on December 11th, 2008Well, there was that scene in The Dark Knight where Lucius jokes about how the new armor will protect Bruce against cats. I guess a lot of people are convinced that was a reference to Catwoman.

There are just so many villains that don’t work in Nolan’s Batman.

And his evil plan will be to hire his goons to drive around Gotham in ice cream trucks constantly blasting “La Cucaracha” through their speakers to get kids to buy ice cream. And the citizens of Gotham will slowly go mad because the music won’t stop playing. It will be a big comment on US immigration policies. And the ice cream will be laced with arsenic.

Posted by Baychuk on December 12th, 2008it’s pretty obvious that Catwoman will be in the next film, ‘cuz A. she’s one of the most beloved characters in the Batman franchise, B. they killed off the main love interest in this last one and C. Batman is now a fugitive and that’s always been the premise for the schemes that the Penguin and Catwoman have always sought against him…..they can’t do another Batman without her….it’s the logical next step…..
