Lord of the Rings Fan Film: Hunt For Gollum Trailer

Most people agree that Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the Lord of the Rings trilogy was a stunning cinematic achievement, and they were only too sad to see it end (apparently Jackson was too, which explains why The Return of the King drags on forever). At any rate, we now have The Hobbit to look forward to a couple of years from now, but in the meantime a group of fans have taken it upon themselves to adapt even more of Tolkien’s work with a self-produced short film. Because, you know, I’m sure ol’ J.R.R. would have wanted it that way.

Independent filmmaker Chris Bouchard has adapted a story from the Appendices of The Lord of the Rings and shot it on a shoestring budget in North Wales. The result is The Hunt For Gollum, a short film that focuses on the Heir of Isildur as he sets out in search of Gollum. From the teaser trailer and the stills it certainly looks like they have managed to capture some impressive scenery and fairly decent costumes. Heck, Bouchard even wrote his own orchestral score to accompany the film. Clearly he’s a talented guy, so why not just make his own fantasy film instead? Well, something tells me he probably wouldn’t be interviewed on BBC Radio if he wasn’t doing a Lord of the Rings fan film. Ah well… check out the official site for more info on this geektastic project.

  1. I still dont understand why people complain about the ending of Return of the King. Sure maybe he made each fade last a little too long, but after spending 9 hours with these characters each one of them deserved their proper ending.

  2. This trailer looks great and all, but it is missing “something” :/

  3. Excitement, danger, drama… yep, it’s missing a lot of things. ;)

  4. What happened to Swarez?

  5. Sorry guys, I’m in the process of switching web hosts so some of the comments may get lost in the shuffle. I’ll try and get them back if I can.
