Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father Premiering on MSNBC This Weekend

One of the documentaries that seems to be getting the most attention this year is Kurt Kuenne’s Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father, a movie that did not make the 2009 Oscar Shortlist for Best Documentary, but is currently sitting at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. I have been trying to avoid reading much about the movie beforehand, partly because I don’t want to spoil it, but also because I suspect I will not want to subject myself to the film once I find out the whole heart-wrenching story.

At any rate, if you don’t happen to live near any of the few cities where this movie has been playing theatrically, you can catch it on TV this weekend instead. It will air on MSNBC on Sunday, Dec. 7th @ 9 pm EST (although, according to my TV listings, it actually airs earlier in the day at 3 pm as well). I know I’ll be watching! Let’s hope we start to see more documentaries and independent films getting released through other formats in a timely fashion like this. 1. Sounds like you pot-smoking, degenerate Canadians need to start respecting your extradition agreements with the U.S.!

  2. Thanks for the heads up! I have heard some great things about this little gem and look forward to seeing it.
