Michael Cera’s Paper Hearts Being Promoted by Lack of Promotion

Well they tried to keep it under wraps, but it’s too late! The cat is out of the bag and now the world knows that Michael Cera has a new movie opening at Sundance in January. It’s called Paper Hearts, and it co-stars Charlyne Yi, the up and coming comedienne who had a small role in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up. As it turns out, she is also Michael Cera’s girlfriend in real-life.

Not much is known about the movie thus far, except that it is a relationship comedy being described as “part-documentary, part-scripted”. The film’s producers have been trying to avoid generating any hype ahead of time, hoping to catch audiences off guard and let word of mouth spread organically, much like it did for Napoleon Dynamite back in 2004. The movie is being directed by Nicholas Jasenovec, who previously did the short film Sounds Good to Me: Remastering the Sting starring Bill Hader (embedded below). I’m very interested to see what comes of this. Will Michael Cera be able to shake off the reputation of playing the same role in every movie, and will it turn Charlyne Yi into the star that Judd Apatow thinks she can be? Stay tuned folks.

  1. Wow no post yet on the Criterion Collection website putting there movies online?

  2. I’ve been a big Cera fan since Clark and Michael, but I read some interview where he was talking about how he can’t handle being famous and is thinking about quitting acting. I hope he doesn’t, but it was sort of obnoxious to read.

  3. Charlyne Yi is hilarious and will be a huge star
