Robert Downey Jr. Named Top Entertainer of the Year

Entertainment Weekly named their “prestigious” Top 25 Entertainers of the Year this week, a list that covers the 25 most talked-about entities in the entertainment world. It’s not limited to actors specifically, nor human beings in general (Facebook made #20), but I guess it’s supposed to be representative of the past year in pop culture.

Coming in at #1 this year was Robert Downey Jr. If there was ever any question about him making one of the biggest comebacks in Hollywood history, I think it’s now official. He starred in two of the biggest movies of the year with Iron Man and Tropic Thunder. It’s just too bad that The Soloist won’t be out in 2009, because I have a feeling that might be knocking him down a notch. Either way, I won’t disagree that this has been a huge year for RDJ, but most of EW’s list is pretty laughable if you take a look at it. I’ve included their Top 10 below; follow the link to read the rest.

1. Robert Downey Jr.
2. Tina Fey
3. Cast and Crew of The Dark Knight
4. The Gossip Girls
5. Stephenie Meyer
6. Lil’ Wayne
7. Rock Band
8. The Women of Sex and the City
9. The Jonas Brothers
10. The Talking Heads (not the band)

  1. I’d say with the exception of the Top Three, that list was pretty lame.

  2. That top 10 either shows how out of touch I am with pop culture or it stands for everything that’s wrong with it, not sure which.

  3. I liked Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, but I think Tina Fey should’ve taken this one.

  4. This is a very good read. Im gonna be tweeting this post. Jonas Brothers are awesome!
