Monday Morning Box Office Report: Quantum Leaps to the Top

It was a pretty huge weekend for Daniel Craig and the James Bond franchise as Quantum of Solace opened to the tune of $70.4 million — a new franchise record. (The previous record was held by Die Another Day, if you can believe it, at $47 million.) Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa also had a very strong second weekend, earning $36 million and bringing its total to $118 million already. Role Models was at #3, followed by High School Musical 3 and Changeling. It’s also worth noting that Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire made $418,000 playing in just 10 theatres, with an impressive per screen average of $35,000. Hopefully it will expand soon.
