Dead Like Me Movie Life After Death Gets a Release Date on DVD

Hey remember that Dead Like Me feature film that was supposed to be coming out sometime this year? Yeah I forgot about it too. Back in January we posted a teaser trailer for the direct to DVD movie, and I think that was the last time I had heard anything about it. It looks like they may have finally nailed down a release date for the movie. Oh, and a title too.
TV Shows on DVD reports that Dead Like Me: Life After Death will finally be released on February 17th, 2009. And for people who have never seen the show, you’re in luck because Dead Like Me: The Complete Series will also hit stores on the same day. I’m curious to see what the quality of this movie will be like, but I have to admit, I’m a little disturbed by the fact that series creator Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) is not involved. Not to mention the fact that it’s directed by Stephen Herek (The Mighty Ducks, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead). Okay, maybe he’s a decent choice to direct this after all. In case you missed it, I’ve embedded the trailer below.

That trailer looked like shit. I really dug the show and I find that lead actress very cute in a strange way. I see that Mandy Patinkin is not involved either, which is sad.
Posted by swarez on November 14th, 2008Weird looks like an episode. Too bad no Mandy. I really enjoyed the show so I’ll check this one out at some point.
Posted by Ian on November 15th, 2008I really enjoyed this show and like so many others, I am sad that it didn’t continue. Too bad the movie looks crappy.
Posted by Sarah on December 16th, 2008I cant wait for the movie to come out. Im a BIG D.L.M fan. Love It!!!! What i dont like about the movie is that Daisy Adair, played by Laura Harris will not be playing that role, and Mandel Bruce Patinkin who had the role of Rube Sofer, the head reeper, has also been cast out of the role. They made the show in my opinion. I hope they continue the series. I live in Australia and we get things very late down here so when it comes out in early 2009 for you guys, we may not get it for another mmm 2 years may be. Ha!! The joys of the internet and downloading. Peace.
Posted by Trent on December 17th, 2008Too be fair, the trailer is pretty crappy image quality/sound quality. Georgia Lass doesn’t sound like herself at all.
But, I will surely buy this film.
Posted by Matt on December 25th, 2008The movie looks crappy, loved the show and I agree Rube and Daisy should be in the movie! Anyone know why they are not?? Also does anyone know if they have done anything else beside this movie?
Posted by Donna on December 29th, 2008Can’t really tell much from a trailer. But glad to see DLM again! Maybe the series can get new life?!
Posted by Art k on January 4th, 2009Don’t know what happened with Mandy after Criminal Minds. (miss him there too)
This Muth looks like she’s on drugs. Hey Man what you on because you sound high in that interview.
Posted by Tom on January 5th, 2009Hmm, just checked IMDB and Laura Harris (Daisy) is in this movie, so don’t know what you guys are smoking. Also, everyone that loves this show needs to buy the dvd as soon as it comes out! Word has it that the show is being considered to be picked up again (see also: Family Guy) and that decision will be influenced by how well this movie does.
Posted by Lee on January 12th, 2009HOLY HELL!!!! Coming back! NOOOOOO WAAAAAAYYYYYY that would be too cool
Posted by Laura on January 18th, 2009im so excited by this movie, i was extremely sorry when the series ended, especially with so many loose ends!!! although in my opinion mandy (rube)is no great loss (even if he did play the role very well), i’m saddened that the suave, sophisticated and beautiful Laura harris has been replaced due to other commitments by the new daisy. judging by the trailer she looks like a terrible replacement! (but i’ll reserve proper judgement until i see the movie).
until then, i’ll leave with a happy thought that this movie was made and if we’re really lucky they’ll bring back the series!!! fingers crossed!!

Posted by Jamie-Leigh on January 18th, 2009Please people the image and sound quality are bad because you are watching on your computer! What do you expect. I can’t wait till it’s released. Even though Rub is not in it or the actress who played Daisey it still looks good. Hope they bring back the series.
Posted by Linda on January 20th, 2009You can watch the full movie here. Up and running. It was an ok movie, left room for another or the return of the show????

K people if u have watched the series…. this is deffinatly for you. Great film and it left an opening for a new movie or season 3 (or something to that effect) like i had heard about when the show got canned. SOMEONE fucked up with the canning of this show. The fan base alone brought it back to life with the movie.
I really enjoyed this movie. Dont let the insanely crap trailer posted here fool you. Do urself a fav and get a copy of it. I dont care if its a torrent downloaded or actually bought. As long as u let the makers know that you really want this great idea for a series to continue otherwise the idiots who thought dead like me didn’t have a following will win.
Bring on more Georgia Lass…bring on more reaping! Im glad the movie was made. I just hope that isnt like Serenity and Firefly where they just finished. Im sure there is a huge amount of people that would like to see the future episodes (if made) and find out what happens in the wonderful world of Dead Like Me and Georgia Lass etc. It would be a shame that this great series could be canned by stupid executives that wouldnt know what a good show was until it kicked their asses with a shotgun. DONT BE LIKE FOX STUDIOS IDTIOTS!
Till then. keep the episodes/movies coming.

SICK!!!!
Posted by sick on February 2nd, 2009LOVED DLM and was waiting for the movie. Mandy and Daisy will be missed… but I guess Callum was on hiatus from Tudors or got axed (literally)and rejoined the cast.
I really love Ellen Muth.. a real talent. We should see her on some other projects. Sadly I saw the recent interview clip and Ellen seemed like she was way hammered. I hope she doesn’t end up another victim of the Hollywood lifestyle… that would be way sad.
Posted by Rich on February 9th, 2009I met Ellen Muth at Jacon and she was flying so high there and her arms had track marks. Then I met her again at Mega Con and FX in Florida. She was shaking for her fix. I pulled my daughter away from her and told her lets go see Sulu (George Takei) I rather have her meet a nice guy man then a junkie.
Posted by Tom C on February 16th, 2009I haven’t seen the movie yet but if Rube got his lights that means no more Rube if they have a season three doesn’t it? I love Mandy Patinkin, I was so surprised when i found out he played Inigo Montoya in ‘The Princess Bride’
Posted by John on April 27th, 2009What a surprise, there is “Life After Death” and it captures the spirit of the series. Desmond, from LOST, aptly replaces Rube — in a sort of twisted way. It was a shock to see Britt McKillip grown up and she is superb. Making a feature movie from a TV series usually spells disaster (think Wild Wild West), however, the writers, director & actors pulled it off.
Posted by Steve on May 30th, 2009i think any “fan” of the show ought to give the movie it’s fair shake. thanks to those who made the very important point (good reference to FG) that our support could help bring the show back. maybe the original cast will return if they have steady work to look forward to. or maybe you’re being too picky. it’s a fantastic show.
