Film Junk Weekend Wrap-Up: Joaquin Quits, Bubba Ho-Tep 2, 20 Films in Lego

It was another week of remakes and comic book movies, with Ninja Scroll, Forbidden Planet and Kurosawa’s High and Low all being lined up for regurgitation, and Spider-Man 4, Preacher and Villains all slowly creeping toward the big screen. Joaquin Phoenix caused quite a ruckus with what I feel is just a big hoax, while both Smokin’ Aces and Bubba Ho-Tep look to be getting sequels of some sort. Also, Guillermo Del Toro tells us that The Hobbit may end up being shot in 3-D, which seems likely to become a requirement for every blockbuster film currently in development!

  1. High and Low remake … weird. I enjoyed it and it is based on a US writer’s noirish story so it might be cool. I wonder about the setting and time period?
