Open Forum Friday: What is the Coolest Halloween Costume You’ve Ever Had?

I’ve never had the energy or the talent to put together any particularly impressive Halloween costumes over the years, but I have to admit that every year some of the creative stuff I see from other people simply blows my mind. I’m sure there are a lot of people out there putting the finishing touches on their costumes today and/or trying to come up with a last-minute idea, so I thought it would be a good time to ask people to share some of their favourite Halloween costumes.
Feel free to post links to images where possible, or simply describe them for us. What is the coolest Halloween costume you’ve ever worn? What is the most impressive one you’ve ever seen? What are some of the worst? Let’s get the Halloween discussion going here on Open Forum Friday!
P.S. Check out this guy’s site for more info on his Aliens Power Loader Costume!

My favorite costumes have been:
1. Stormtrooper when I was 8 or 9. My mom made it and it had a utility belt and everything.
2. Adam West’s Batman
3. Kevin Costner in “Field of Dreams.” I showed up to a party in a white button up shirt, rolled up cuffs and Levis. (I couldn’t find my baseball glove.)
Posted by Brett on October 31st, 2008I was Blade the year it came out and I looked awesome. Got beat up in Five Points though.
I like true authenticity in my costumes so the fact that the Power Loader dude looks nothing like Ripley brings it down a notch (…awesome ingenuity though).
One of my friends was Jack Sparrow one year and unlike other Jack Sparrows I’ve seen it worked because he looks kinda like a coke-blowing Depp. He has a Depp shelf to his DVD collection that includes 21 Jump Street. You can’t even poke fun at him about it because he takes so much pride in it. Hilarious.
I wanna be Ruby Rhod one year but that will be hella expensive and difficult.
Posted by Ryan M. on October 31st, 2008Can I ask how many The Dark Knight Jokers you spotted this year?
I’m pretty sure that’s going to be the most “original” outfit this year, at least with the emo goth crowd.
If you see some, smack them upside the head and tell them to go home and change.
Posted by swarez on October 31st, 2008I was Silent Bob this year, and I’m already planning for next year. Next year i’m gonna be ash from evil dead.
Posted by Drew on October 31st, 2008I went as the “floor of the movie theater” once. I wore all black and glued popcorn, gum, Milk Dud boxes and Soda Cups on myself. It was a great conversation piece.
Posted by ProjectGenesis on October 31st, 2008Hmmmm.
Grade Three…Rubicks Cube.
Grade six…Ghostbuster.
College…Mankind from the WWE
A few years ago – Mr, Smarty Pants. I glued Smartie boxes to my pants.
This year – Robert Goulet.
Sean took a pic. If you can upload it..that would be awesome.

You can’t go wrong with DEVO.
My favorite costume of mine as a kid was an awesome homemade ninja turtle one. I want to go as Beefcake the Mighty from Gwar ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/99/Beefcake-the-mighty-04.jpg )
Posted by Alex R. Cronk-Young on November 1st, 2008some year but I’m too lazy to put the costume together.

I saw about as many Jokers as there were typical girl sexy witch/sexy vampire/sexy nurse type costumes.
answer: too many. whats funny is that the Office spoofed this before it even happened, with 3 people showing up as Joker:

Posted by Neil M on November 1st, 2008Greg you should wear that Goulet costume everyday, you look very classy.

I saw a whole bunch of girls as sexy nurse jokers
Posted by Drew on November 1st, 2008I was pretty happy with my costume this year. I went as Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, my wife was Iris and out dog, Hot Tot was a Checker Marathon NYC taxi.

Hot Tot even took first prize at the Niagara Pug-O-Ween costume contest.
BTW Sean, how did the first Fanboy Friday screening go? Were there any other amazing costumes aside from Robert Goulet?
Posted by Nuno on November 2nd, 2008Awesome costumes Nuno… you guys outdid yourselves once again!
Fanboy Friday didn’t have a lot of people in costume. Greg’s was definitely the best!
Posted by Sean on November 2nd, 2008I’ve been the following: Grim Reaper, Indiana Jones, Special Forces soldier (back when fake guns looked real) and one time a Jedi like Luke in ROTJ (all in black with the matching robe, messy long blond hair and a green lightsabre…Hell, I’d even have made the ideal young Anakin if Lucas saw me)
I wish I had pictures.
Here’s a nod to the worst of the worst:

Posted by Baychuk on November 2nd, 2008Oh and a couple of times “Jason Voorhees”.
Posted by Baychuk on November 2nd, 2008My first Halloween, when I was three months old, I was dressed as a Hamilton Ti-Cats fan. My parents even pinned the “raw raw” chant on me. I’ll never forgive them for that. In grade school I went as a Dinsey character almost every year. Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, etc. I was the tooth fairy when I was about ten. I’ve only dressed up once as an adult, I went as Marilyn Monroe a few years ago. The blonde wig looked awful on me, so I just curled my own brown hair. The false eyelashes were a huge pain, but the red lipstick was fun! I’ve seen some great costumes over the years. My brother and a bunch of his friends went together as Arrested Development characters recently. They actually looked really good. I think my brother was Tobias. The worst costume I ever saw was Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter, just a few weeks after he had died. A guy dressed in his standard tan safari get-up, and then attached a home-made sting-ray to his hat. One of my best friends was dating the guy at the time, but she refused to be seen with him at that party, and pretty much dumped him on the spot. We ended up hanging out with a pair of Brokeback Mountain cowboys for the rest of the night.
Posted by Ashley on November 2nd, 2008This year I went as the Spinmaster Priest from the Fr Ted tv show. Last year as Jesus, just off the cross, fake blood etc and a very small loincloth. And year before that, a ham sandwich which resulted in getting bitten by a lot of people…
