i cannot believe so many people for “the exorcist” the scariest film ever.. its bloody hilarious! its one of my bed time films which I fall asleep to. the scariest film would be the ones that play on your mind afterwards which would be the original “Ring, Ring 2 and Ring O”. the second one to play on your mind would be the original “Grudge” and third the american “The Blair Witch Project”. the rest are not scare. The exorcist is only scary in one way and that is if your over religious.

bobby, I can’t think of any Chinese movie that is similar to The Exorcist. Was the Chinese movie set in the olden days with period costumes? Maybe you’re thinking of A Chinese Ghost Story. That was popular. But I haven’t seen it. Ha-ha.

exorsist 1 was pretty crap.the ring scared thd daylites outta me.and i had some old neighbours frm china who had a movie similar to the exorcist but it was spoken in asian… That scarred me for about a year haha does any1 know the name

I chose TBW. It’s the only movie that scared me as an adult.
When I was a kid I was pretty scared of a few scenes in An American Werewolf in London ie the boys being stalked, then attacked at the start, and the stalking in the tube/subway, Nazi werewolf dream even tho it lasts about 4 frames!
These days most scares are shocks from overly loud audio cues.
The Birds also freaked me out as a kid. Rightly so!

Personally, I’ve never found any of the movies on the poll scary. I voted for Texas Chainsaw because I think that it’s the most disturbing of all the ones on the list. When I was a kid I was scared by Killer Klowns From Outer Space and It, but I can’t remember ever really being scared by any other movies. I was one of those kids who loved monster movies, and I still do to this day. As such, I’m rarely scared by movies. Recently I think that The Mist was the film which filled me the most with a feeling of dread, but that’s not the same as being frightened. It was all about the tension and mood and not so much fear.

Any of the “Road Trip Gone Wrong” flicks always have an element to being scary because they can happen.

I picked BLAIR WITCH PROJECT as being the most creative too.

Funny you should mention that. Me and my friend wrote a treatment for the proposed remake for Audition a couple of years ago. Nothing came out of it and I think the producer still has the rights but I think the story is just way too shocking for American mainstream audiences.

From this list I went with Blair Witch, but personally I found Session 9 and Them (Ils) very scary. The Descent would have been my second choice. I found The Exorcist shocking and creepy, but not scary.
