Push Trailer Starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning
Imagine if someone ripped off the TV show Heroes (not exactly a model of originality itself) and turned it into a feature film starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning. Now imagine that the budget for this movie was somewhat limited, and it was directed by the guy who did Lucky Number Slevin and Wicker Park. Envision that movie, and now watch the trailer for Paul McGuigan’s Push and tell me it’s not even worse than what you just imagined!
This movie is about young kids with special powers like clairvoyance and telekinesis, who are being pursued by the U.S. government. I will admit that like most sci-fi geeks, there are a few elements to the movie that appeal to me, but it just looks so derivative and melodramatic that I can’t help but shake my head. I mean, seriously… anytime Dakota Fanning is in the mix, you’ve gotta think twice.
And what the heck is Academy Award-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou doing in this thing? From Eragon to Never Back Down to this? He really needs to find a better agent. Push hits theatres on February 6th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

Whenever Dakota Fanning talks she sounds like she’s five years old for some reason, i don’t know, maybe thats what people say about me too. But I just don’t think she can be taken seriously.
Posted by Drew on October 20th, 2008I think Sean is being too harsh on Dakota Fanning. She was in Man On Fire and was very good in it. Plus the movie was fantastic too.
Posted by Stephen on October 21st, 2008It always drives me nuts when a particular type of movie, superhero in this case, takes off and people try to cash in rather than just making a decent movie. This trailer looks to me like a studio trying to cash in on a fad. I think the movie “Special” with Michael Rappaport looks so much better.
Posted by Dennis on October 21st, 2008i love how camilla belle did on when a stranger calls but in this movie was kind of violent that part of her didnt know
Posted by heivis on November 10th, 2008Sean is definitely too harsh on Dakota. The girl is not even 15 yet, and her maturity level in her acting is actually quite impressive. Personally…How successful were you at the age of 14? Jealousy and an overly-critical attitude do not make you a good movie critic.
Posted by Naters on December 8th, 2008I cannot believe what he sai about Dakota! She is a very good actress. And she is only 14. Give her time I think she will be very succesful…. Loved her in I am sam. She is an amazing young actress!
