Brett Ratner Confirmed for Conan Reboot?
Well internet, it looks like your worst fears have been confirmed: Brett Ratner will be directing the new Conan movie. There still hasn’t been an official announcement about it, but Moriarty over at Ain’t It Cool News says it is a done deal. And before people start spouting off the usual angry tirades, let me just say that I am truly growing tired of the Brett Ratner hate. I don’t even understand where it all started. Just from X-Men: The Last Stand? How can someone like Michael Bay have plenty of people defending him, yet no one is willing to come to the defense of The Rat?
Sure Rush Hour 3 sucked, but X-Men: The Last Stand, Rush Hour 1 and 2, and even Red Dragon weren’t THAT bad. There are plenty of directors out there that would make me more excited for Conan, but there are also a ton that would be way worse. Even Howard McCain, who is co-writing the movie and who previously directed Outlander, would not be nearly as competent as Ratner in the director’s chair in my opinion. So hate on you crazy haters… but for now I’ll remain cautiously optimistic about this movie. Hey, it can’t be worse than Conan The Destroyer… can it?

I think Wilt Chamberlain was the best actor in that movie, and where the hell is Grace Jones when you need her?

I dunno. I think people are misremembering just how quality a film Conan the Barbarian was. I mean, I love it, but it’s not like it’s even the best “Barbarian tit film” (Jayspeak). I think it has the potential to be about as good in the ’00s as CtB was in the ’80s.
Posted by Joel on October 18th, 2008I don’t hate Ratner…i just wouldn’t want to see any of his upcoming films. I have disliked everything he has made so far. I really could care less if he is making this film. I enjoyed both of the Conan movies already made. If this one does not look good to me then i just won’t go.
