Weekly Poll Results: Best Bill Murray Movie

Last week we asked you guys to vote on the best Bill Murray flick of all-time, and although it was a close race, it appears we have a winner… Groundhog Day! I have to admit, I’m a bit surprised that it managed to edge out Ghostbusters, but it is a pretty great movie in its own right. Together, those two movies made up over 50% of the votes, but in third place was Wes Anderson’s Rushmore, followed by Lost in Translation and Caddyshack. The Farrelly Brothers’ Kingpin started off strong but when all was said and done, it ended up near the bottom of the list. Are you satisfied with these results?
1. Groundhog Day — 27.4%
2. Ghostbusters — 26%
3. Rushmore — 11.5%
4. Lost in Translation — 10.1%
5. Caddyshack — 7.2%
6. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou — 5.8%
7. Stripes — 3.8%
8. What About Bob — 2.9%
8. Kingpin — 2.9%
10. Broken Flowers — 2.4%

Posted by dirrrtyfrank on October 16th, 2008I might be burned for saying this, but I actually like Groundhog Day better than Ghostbusters. I’m pretty sure I voted for it in the poll. I definitely laugh more watching Groundhog Day, and Bill Murray’s character is way more interesting.
Also, his performance in The Life Aquatic is totally underrated.

Posted by Matt on October 16th, 2008I voted for Rushmore, but I actually thought Broken Flowers was a very good film, just not a good Bill Murray flick. Anybody could have played that role, he didn’t really act at all (which kind of is Jim Jarmusch’s thing).
Posted by Alex on October 16th, 2008I went old school and picked Ghostbusters, I’m happy to see it high on the list!
I just don’t get what people see in Groundhog Day. I was so bored watching it.
Posted by Shannon the Movie Moxie on October 17th, 2008Ghostbusters is by far the better film, but you’ve got to love ol’ Steven Toblowski’s character in that film. Hilariously annoying!
Posted by Kurt on October 17th, 2008Groundhog Day is at the top, where it should be. This movie is all about the character, and his transformation from ego-maniac to caring soul. Ghostbusters is awesome, and probably a better movie, but Groundhog Day is a better movie for Bill Murray.
