Comments on: Brandon Routh Could Still Be Superman?

I would prefer them to keep both Brandon Routh as Clark Kent/ Superman and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. Everyone else probably would need to be changed to help a new movie seem completely independent of “Superman Returns.” I do not agree with anyone who wants the next film to attempt being a sequel to the old movies with Christopher Reeve. Those were made decades ago and the world has changed a lot since then. It is time to start all over and make movies that perfectly fit the modern world. Therefore- I would like to see an updated version with the destruction of Krypton. And I also would like for them to keep Jonathan Kent alive throughout the series just like they did in “Lois and Clark” and “Superman: The Animated Series.” I also think they need to start using villains from the comic books on live-action film for the first time ever such as Parasite, Metallo, Brainiac, Darkseid, and maybe Doomsday (if a story involving Superman’s death is necessary). As far as I am concerned- “Superman Returns” is independent of the Christopher Reeve films and was only a story skipping the origin as well as treating viewers like they already know who all the characters are. There is no such thing as a sequel involving totally different actors for something made over 30 years ago.

Routh was cool the plot was lame

Reboot has to happen ,but give him a proper nemesis
not the same old lex luthor uses kyptonite scenario

How about Brainiac or Doomsday ?

The comics were great , it’s time the man of steel
became the movie of steel ,then the critics won’t slate it so much.

Bring it on super fans !!!

I love seeing Routh in the movie, period.

Of course, if the movie is going dark, put someone else. I’d rather have Routh as the character from Superman Returns in my memory than see him with another face all of a sudden for the same character.

For me, I enjoyed X-men a lot. The first time I knew Singer was the director of Superman Returns, I just couldn’t wait to see the movie. And I was fine with the result. The only thing I wasn’t sure of is the script.

I’m fine with Routh…but then again I’d like to see a new face because I don’t like Kate Bosworth’s portrayal of Lois that much. (If they change him they have to change her!)

Actually now that I’ve thought about it a reboot won’t work with any old faces period. In fact it was sort of stupid that they brought it back to the Richard Donner movies in the first place!

As long as they don’t let Singer blow $300-mil on another borefest I’ll be fine.

The movie did have problems…but Routh wasn’t one of them…I’m all for him staying in the role.

I liked a lot of “Supie returns”. Of course the peeping Tom scene was strange and the “Son of superman”-arc one of the worst movie ideas ever, but the action was great and Routh was a great Reeves.

For the kid alone they have to restart the franchise [again!], but the actors donÃ‚Â´t have to be changed. Perhaps it was all a dream and they can set the start point right after Superman 2 this time.

Or Lois was a real slut in Supes absence and itÃ‚Â´s Barrys kid and some strange scientific experiment gone wrong has delivered itÃ‚Â´s powers. Hey, I should copyright this Idea right now…..

They definitely need to reboot this franchise, or even go a completely different way with it, like Red Son, but I see no reason why Routh couldn’t still play Supes in the next version. He wasn’t the problem, and I even think he was a decent fit for the role.
