High Quality Dragonball Trailer Starring Justin Chatwin and Chow Yun-Fat

After all the rumours and negative buzz surrounding the upcoming live action Dragonball movie, I’m happy to report that we finally have our first look at an official teaser trailer. Apparently things are moving along well enough to release this, and the movie is still on track for its April 10th, 2009 release date. The trailer is fairly short and doesn’t show much in the way of special effects, which explains why the fantastical elements of the show are all but missing.

To be honest, it doesn’t look all that bad to me so far, although it doesn’t look like anything special either. It feels a bit goofy when Justin Chatwin finally appears in that orange gi, but then again, if he didn’t wear that at some point, the fans would have been pissed. I’m also not sure about the look they are going for with Piccolo (James Marsters)… ironically, it looks like something out of Buffy or Angel. What did you think of the trailer? You can catch a higher quality version over at thedragonballmovies.com.

  1. emmy rossum … she is very innocent … i like that

  2. They don’t call him dirrrtyfrank for nothing.

  3. It said the video is no longer available.

  4. High quality at dbthemovie.com or traileraddict.com

  5. Just cut the shot of the ball in Goku’s hand, cut the character titles, change the color of the gi, and slap a different title at the end and I’d believe it was some generic action movie (and merely have no interest in seeing it). As a former huge fan this looks nothing like what a live-action Dragonball should look like AT ALL.

Also, there’s a complete visual modification of the source that I can’t think of one logical reason to perpetrate: Piccolo is not white. GREEN!!! THE DUDE IS FUCKING GREEN! Hes an alien not a GODDAMN VAMPIRE!!!!!! Why the fuck did anyone make that happen? How could you even start to consider it?

The Internets are now burning with the fires of hatred.

  6. Um…where’s Vegeta? This movie cannot be good without Vegeta. Mind you, even if he were in it I’d still be hesitant, but come on…

    …where the hell’s Vegeta?

  7. Ugggghhhhhh. I wanted this to at least be fun, but it looks so incredibly disappointing.

  8. From the looks of things, there’s no way any special effects possibly still not yet added can save this movie now that the whole world is boycotting it

  9. As much as i dont plan on seeing this movie anymore, i can happily say i dont plan on seeing it less considering this trailer didnt contain a certain… vertically challenged connect the dots forehead, person?…
BUT IM STILL NOT SEEING IT
