Jude Law in Talks to Play Guy Ritchie’s Dr. Watson

It looks like we may finally know who will be joining Robert Downey Jr. in the Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes movie (not to be confused with the Will Ferrell/Sacha Baron Cohen comedic version that is also in development). Here’s a hint: it’s not Russell Crowe.

Variety reports that Jude Law is the man who will likely play Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick Dr. John H. Watson, as he is currently in final negotiations for the part. Well, at least one of the stars will be British, right? I like Jude Law, but I have to wonder if he would have made a better Holmes. I have a hard time seeing him as just a sidekick, but either way, this project is shaping up to be very interesting indeed. Will it actually be the blockbuster that Warner Brothers is hoping for?

  1. No, it will not. It’s the wrong director and the wrong leads, though Jude Law would make a much better Holmes than Downey Jr. The sad thing is that these two Sherlock Holmes movies will keep a much better version from being made anytime soon.

  2. Yeah, I don’t see that working to well either especially if Downey plays Holmes.
