This Week on DVD: Sept. 9, 2008

If you happen to be browsing the aisles this week, there aren’t too many exciting new releases on DVD, but still a few worth mentioning. The two biggest releases are the Jet Li/Jackie Chan team-up Forbidden Kingdom and the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler comedy Baby Mama. Tarsem’s visual feast The Fall is also out this week, for anyone wondering what he’s been up to since The Cell, plus Jamie Kennedy’s Heckler documentary and Uwe Boll’s latest abomination Seed. There are some double/triple dip releases of Cool Hand Luke, The Big Lebowski and Child’s Play, meanwhile on Blu-ray we’ve got both Night Watch and Day Watch, Rudy, Superman Returns, and Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 (not the new combined cut unfortunately). Are you picking anything up this week?

  1. I don’t consider Child’s Play a double-dip, it’s the first time you can get it on DVD in Widescreen.
    Wooooooooo!

  2. I considered Kill Bill for about a half of a second– then I realized that it’s bound to be released in a full director’s cut edition sometime in the near future so– forget it!

    And Child’s Play is a gimme– it’s only $9.99!

  3. I’m buying Nightwatch all the way…too bad Daywatch sucked. I’ll queue up Forbidden Kingdom for Netflix.
