Monday Morning Box Office Report: Sept. 8, 2008
This weekend’s crop of new releases was pretty thin, and the box office certainly reflected this as Nicolas Cage’s Bangkok Dangerous just barely edged out Tropic Thunder for the #1 spot with only $7.8 million. Somehow The House Bunny keeps making money, and it was at #3, followed by The Dark Knight and Traitor. Apparently Mamma Mia! is still making money thanks to the new Sing-Along Edition re-release, and Pineapple Express is also still hanging in the Top 10. I’m guessing things are going to continue to be slow throughout September.

3. The House Bunny — $5.9M
4. The Dark Knight — $5.71M
5. Traitor — $4.66M
6. Babylon A.D. — $4M
7. Death Race — $3.59M
8. Disaster Movie — $3.3M
9. Mamma Mia! — $2.71M
10. Pineapple Express — $2.4M

Wow– what a weak week. $7.8 mil is enough to be the number one movie? Do you think they even celebrate that?
