I have been considering switching from cable to another service like satellite. I know there at a lot of options out there and wanted some advice on what I should look for or purchase. It’s sad, but I am spending about $125 a month on my tv service and I am getting less than 70 channels. I would love more channels, hd television, and a tivo/tv recording box. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

I personally welcome ghostbusters in any incarnation it will come in. i grew up on this shit. even though ghostbuster 2 was to ghostbusters, as freedom is to george bush jr, i would love to see a proton pack in the near future. the fact that bill murray is even thinking about possibly considering to take on venkman again is absolute evidence to me that it is a good idea. i think the only way this could make a horrible movie is if they cast kel mitchell as the black ghostbuster and let a crippled monkey with adhd direct it.

How about…….. Michel Gondry! He can go crazy with weird effects when the ghosts call the shots!

(sidenote: Verhoeven is pronounced as Verhooven and Das Boot as Das Boat, although I do like the mispronunciations better, especially calling a submarine a boot)

Personally I’d go with Paul Verhoeven. Ghosthunting would be twice as fun if you add insane amounts of violence and a some really explicit sex scenes, to shock audiences maybe a human/ghost shag with an exctoplasmic money shot? Add on a subversive sub-plot about global corporations and you got yourself a renewed franchise =))

why not just make gb into an hour tv show that would be really awsome as in the scope of buffy they can be dealing with all sorts of undead badies besides ghosts.

Ghostbusters was never really horror so I’d leave out like John Carpenter or Gunn. I think it would be great fun to see Anderson do one since he has that style that seems to complement Murrays humor. I think the key has to be to stay away from somebody that’s going to give it some kind of overstylized modernism. A ghostbusters movie shouldn’t have a blue filtered look. It should look like a movie not a car commercial. I guess I’m thinking of the disparate look of Die Hard IV from the first 3 (1 and 3 esspecially).

How about Joe Dante? Or John Landis? They haven’t done anything great in ages. Maybe even David Gordon Green, Greg Mottola or Judd Apatow himself. I doubt Wes Anderson would be interested.

No hard feelings, but I do think Columbus & Ghostbusters are a match: he does comedy (Home Alone), scary (Gremlins – which he wrote) and effects (Harry Potter 1 & 2). I’m playing devil’s advocate a bit, but I would be surprised if he isn’t being considered for this.

Henrik, gotta disagree…Ghostbusters 1 is not pure nostalgia…its a great classic comedy film…it still holds up even now.
