10 Days of TIFF Starts Today!

If you’ve been reading any movie blogs or websites this week, you’ve probably already been hearing about the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, which officially starts today. It’s one of the biggest film festivals of the year, and marks the official start of Oscar season. Since Film Junk HQ is only about an hour or so away from Toronto, we are lucky enough to be able to descend on the big city and catch some interesting films (and maybe a few celebrity sightings) over the next 10 days.

Needless to say, our TIFF coverage also starts today, and hopefully every day for the next week and a half we’ll have some updates for you whether it be in the form of reviews, reports, or maybe even some video podcasts. We’re not going as hardcore as some people (watching 50+ movies in 10 days is just insane if you ask me), but hopefully that means we’ll actually have time to blog about it. (We’ll also be keeping up with our daily movie news as well, so if you could care less about the festival, then feel free to just ignore it.)

Between Greg, Jay and myself, here is the initial list of the movies that we are planning on seeing at TIFF:

Be sure to follow us on Twitter for shorter updates on the fly, and check out the websites TIFF Talk and TIFF Reviews for more valuable festival-related info. And hey, if you’re attending the film festival and you happen to see any of us in line or walking the streets, be sure to stop us and say hi! (Well okay, maybe not Jay. :) )

  1. Damn I’m so jealous that you guys are gonna see the Wrestler and Che.

  2. I’m so jealous that you are going to see ‘The Brothers Bloom.’ I was late getting my picks in and it was sold out by the time I got around to doing them. I loved ‘Brick.’ Maybe i’ll try for rush line tickets. Anyhoop, looking forward to the review.

  3. Good God…262 minutes of Che! Best of luck with that one. I don’t see how any movie longer than three hours can be anything but boring.

  4. I’m also seeing The Brothers Bloom, Che, The Dungeon Masters, and Religulous, amongst other stuff. Are you guys braving the four-and-a-half hour screening, or are you doing the Part 1 and Part 2 thing?

  5. Greg’s the only seeing Che and he’s doing the 4 and a half hour screening.

  6. If you see Katie Holmes, tell her I said “Hi!”.
