Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno Red Band Trailer
We caught our first glimpse of Kevin Smith’s upcoming comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno a couple of months ago, when he released a short teaser trailer that was eventually pulled off the internet by the big bad MPAA. At the time, I didn’t think the trailer was particularly funny, but a lot of people defended the video with the fact that it was just a bunch of outtakes strung together and not necessarily indicative of what would be in the final film.
Well, now we we finally have an officially sanctioned red band trailer for the film, and there are no excuses this time around. Based on this trailer, I can’t see myself laughing once through the entire film. Don’t get me wrong, Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks are very likable stars, but when it comes right down to it, I think this was a horrible subject for a Kevin Smith movie. Yeah, I know, it should be perfect for the man who is known for his potty mouth, but here’s the problem: it’s too OBVIOUS. Like seriously… a Star Wars porno? Who didn’t see that coming from a mile away. I like the fact that The Office’s Craig Robinson is in this, but that’s about all it’s got going for it right now. Zack and Miri Make a Porno hits theatres on October 31st; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

but i gotta say, that it does remind me a little bit of clerks 2, because didn’t expect anything from the movie after the trailers. the film itself was okay, not the best by kevin smith, but entertaining. we’ll see

This looks like shit, but when that guy from Clerks comes in with his non-acting, it just takes it to a whole new level.
I think Kevin Smith should retire. He says at this point he’s just waiting to die. Why wait?
Posted by Henrik on September 3rd, 2008Meh. Looks pretty mediocre. Although the idea is kind of cute, there is only so much they can do with it. The last of Smith’s movies that I liked came out in 1999. And he’s only made three movies since then. He’s very overrated.

I think he should retire too. Maybe go back to that Jay Leno schtick he was doing.
Agreed. Obvious jokes were obvious. The thing looks terribly stale…like Jersey Girl with a potty mouth. I like some of Smith’s movies but he is so amateurish it’s ridiculous at times (Clerks script=solid; Clerks direction=one of the better freshmen in film school). And to think there was a time he was lumped in with Tarantino as a new pioneer of indie filmmaking.
