An Icelandic woman living in Canada recommended Corner Gas on her blog and said it was the funniest show ever. Well I took a gander and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show as unfunny as this one.
The problem is that all the good Canadian comedians move to the states leaving only the crap behind.

Funny, I love Corner Gas. All the characters are stupid in the sense that all people are stupid. And it’s a great example of Canadians laughing at themselves.

Yeah, I think Kids in the Hall and SCTV are the standard-bearers of Canadian comedy, and that’s definitely something to be proud of. I just f***ing hate that Corner Gas.

Also, Jay and Sean, if you do end up seeing Ricky Gervais at TIFF, unless Ghost Town is actually amazing, give him a nice smack in the nuts. He (supposedly) has turned down a slew of post-Office roles to co-star with Greg Kinnear in a Heart and Souls rip-off? Pshaw.

Canadian humor is Kids in the Hall right? This show is pretty funny. It’s usually the sort of thing where you are listening in on a conversation that ends up being so covoluted that it can’t help but be funny. It’s all about Karl though and now that I’ve seen what he looks like I don’t know if it’ll be funnier.

Hm… Let’s hope Canadian humor isn’t defined by that Corner Gas show. Every time I’m at my parents’ house it seems to be on and it sucks out my soul every time I see it. All the characters are written exactly the same, and they conveniently act stupid or insightful when the story calls for it. Doesn’t Canada have a bunch of famous comedians who I can’t think of at this moment?

I enjoyed this clip of the Ricky Gervais show, especially the part about gay men choosing bunk beds. I’ll have to check this out.

FYI: Jay played some of one of Ricky’s podcast for me while I was in Jay’s car (and I couldn’t escape). I didn’t find the show interesting or funny. I’m not dissing the show or anything. Just not my cup of tea. But I do like dry, British humour.

I wonder what defines Canadian humour. Self-deprecating? (I don’t think that would apply in my case.)

About 6 USD I’d say. Is that for all of them of for each one though? If it’s for all of them it’s a fair endeavor worth supporting, if it’s for each it’s a torrent.
