Film Junk is Now on Twitter!

All of you early adopter technical types out there are probably well aware of a little phenomenon that’s been spreading across the internet for the past couple of years called Twitter. It’s kind of like a cross between instant messaging and blogging, allowing you to post short messages of 140 characters or less — the short message length making it ideal for communicating from a cell phone or PDA.

I had been resisting signing up for Twitter for a while now just because I didn’t need yet another thing to update on a regular basis, but recently I’ve come to realize how useful it could be. For the next little while I’m going to experiment with it, posting occasional news tidbits, behind the scenes Film Junk info and random personal stuff. When we head to the Toronto Film Festival starting next week, I’ll also be able to send some short updates this way as well. If you are already on Twitter, or interested in signing up, just head to the link below and click to follow Film Junk. There’s already a great little community of movie bloggers on there, and some interesting discussions to join. Note: You don’t have to sign up with Twitter to read our feed either, you can just head to twitter.com/filmjunk to catch the latest tweets. Hope to see you on Twitter!

  1. Welcome to the social media revolution. Looking forward to the TIFF coverage!

  2. I find Twitter so absurdly useless.

  3. I thought the same thing Paul… it’s just another way for people to waste their time talking about themselves, right? But there’s also a reason it has caught on, and it’s definitely more useful for people who are always on the go. I’m usually in front of a computer all the time anyway, but if it helps connect Film Junk to people who aren’t, then that’s a good thing.

  4. I used to think Twitter was retarded as well but its a neat little diversion. I’m also following Warren Ellis; didn’t think you guys were big comic fans.

  5. Warren Ellis is one of the few comic book writers that I follow with any frequency. Greg is the true comic book geek of the group though.

  6. I enjoy reading the updates, but I don’t understand the @-lines. From Twitterfox in response to davechensky etc. How does those work?

  7. That’s the instant messaging part of it… directing a message specifically at someone (even though other people can read it). You can also send private messages that don’t go out to everyone.

  8. So are those messages you write and send to other people? You are ‘twitterfox’?

  9. Yes those are messages I am sending to other people, and Twitterfox is the program I was using to send the messages.

  10. Gotcha!

  11. Hey, I just bought a few issues of Ellis’ Ocean series for 10 cents each! Oh, gotta go!
