I’m all for it, whilst rob’s was not in the same league as carpenters, it was never really made to be, lucky for me im a big fan of zombie’s directional style and he’s new vision really entertained me, but it didnt scare me straight like the original did when i was a kid, it lacked suspense, it was more eye candy, but it had michael myers in it so i didnt really mind. I love the character, and ill watch anything they make with him in it, and really whats the worst these 2 can do? if its crap its crap, dont see it again, but who knows, they might just pull a good one out, im all for any effort, coz any is better than none at all =P

I think I would have enjoyed Zombie’s Halloween a lot more if the characters had different names and if it had a different title. His remake had nothing of the spirit or intent of the original (a movie I’m honestly not crazy about but am able to see why it was effective). He clearly did not understand or care about why the idea of Michael Myers is frightening. Halloween (1979) is about the nature of evil. MM is basically a soulless creature with no regard for human life. It was implied that he had a normal upbringing he still managed to brutally kill 2 people without remorse as a child, showing that evil can spring out of the most ordinary circumstances, for no reason. And his “blackness” is the reason why he can’t be killed. He’s like a demon in a human body, something so dark that it can’t be destroyed. So the whole “my White trash background made me bad” thing made no sense and turned the remake into something so different from the original that it’s not at all the same basic idea. Or maybe I’m reading too much into the original…

The first half of Zombie’s Halloween was highly watchable but then it devolved into…I have no idea what. From the time the kid gets put into that mental hospital, the movie stopped making any sense and just dragged on and on. So a sequel to that mess holds no interest from me whatsoever, especially not with the dudes who made “Inside” involved. I don’t like this “all style/blood/gore, no substance” approach to horror that seems to come out of France in the last few years. The imagery of Inside was great so I could imagine how effective the film would have been if there was a coherent story and plausible plot developments and realistic characters attached to it. So, I’m not expecting any of those elements from any franchise originating from a spin off of a remake of made by Rob Zombie.

THOUGH, I REALLY DID ENJOY THE FIRST HALF HOUR OF HIS ‘REMAKE’ AND SOME OF HIS IDEAS FOR LITTLE MIKEY MYERS, AND THE VERY LOVELY SHERRI MOON…THE SECOND HALF PAYED NO RESPECT TO ‘CARPENET’S’ ORIGINAL MASTER PIECE. WHAT’S WITH ALL THE BUCKETS OF BLOOD AND TRAILER TRASH CHARACTERS…OH,THAT’S RIGHT…ROB ZOMBIE ONLY VIEWS THE WORLD AND HIS ART AS THAT KIND OF ENJOYMENT. THE CHARACTER OF LAURE STRODE WAS THE BIGGEST INSULT TO THE QUEEN OF 80′S HORROR,JAMIE LEE CURTIS AND POOR DANIELLE HARRIS (FROM part 4 and 5) CRAWLED AROUND ON THE FLOOR,BLOODY,NAKED AND BEING TORTURED FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE ‘FOREVER!’ I NEVER WANNA SEE LITTLE JAMIE THAT WAY AGAIN. ‘HALLOWEEN’ IS ABOUT STYLE,SUSPENSE AND THE ART OF USING SHADOWS AND DARKNESS IN IT’S VISION…MYERS IS MORE LIKE A ‘GHOSTLY PHANTOM’ THAT SEEMS TO APPEAR AND DISSOLVE WITHIN’ THE NIGHT OF ‘HALLOWEEN’..HENCE HIS NAME ‘THE BOOGEYMAN’ OR ‘THE SHAPE.’..AND IT’S ALSO ABOUT HIS CONNECTION TO HIS SISTER…I KNOW ‘ZOMBIE’ WANTED TO MAKE CARPENTER’S STORY HIS OWN….SO WHY WOULD HE DO THE SECOND HALF OF HIS ‘HALLOWEEN’ JUST BASCIALLY QUICK CLIFF-NOTES FROM THE ORIGINAL..? THE BEST THING ABOUT HIS REMAKE IS THAT IT MANY MILLIONS…SO ‘THANK YOU’ FOR THAT. THIS WILL KEEP THE ‘SLASHER’ MOVIES ALIVE AND I’M SURE OTHER DIRECTORS WILL PAY MORE RESPECT TO THE ORIGINAL THEY ARE COPYING. KEEP THE REMAKES COMING…AND HOPEFULLY THIS ‘TORTURE/GORE PORN’ WILL SOON STOP. HEY…I LIKED THE REMAKE OF ‘PROM NIGHT’…SO KILL ME NOW…AT LEAST IT STAYED ‘TRUE’ IN IT’S FLAVOR TO THE ORIGINAL.

I agree whole hearted with Pauly. I believe that the initial intent for Zombie’s remake was not only to remake the original movie, but to give insight into Michael’s world and just what it was that made him the way we all know him. Hence the reason that the first half of the movie centered around his childhood and his incarceration. I don’t know anything about the new people being said to direct this new sequel, but I believe that if they stick to the style and story the way Rob was telling it, then I believe it will be a good sequel. I know for a fact that I would see it. Wouldn’t mind seeing if they try to bring back any of the original actors or actresses to play other roles, like they did with this one. It was interesting to see little Danielle Harris from Halloween 4 and 5 coming back to play someone else.

It’s to bad Zombie won’t be part of the 2nd movie and I really hope the “newbies” will do Myers justice, as for a sequel to Halloween….JUST GET IT DONE ALREADY!!!!!…we need more sequels and less “remakes”.
It is funny though that it’s Rob Zombie who started all these “holywood” remakes by doing the remake of Halloween. He brought back the horror icon who started all of these “serial” killers. My hat comes off to Zombie it is the second best Halloween movie ever (second only to the original).
