This Week on DVD: Aug. 12, 2008

Not a ton of new stuff out on DVD this week, but there are a few picks like Stephen Chow’s latest film CJ7, Noam Murro’s Smart People, and a shiny Criterion version of Guy Madden’s Brand Upon The Brain!. There is also a number of decent TV sets out this week including the fifth and final season of the HBO show that everyone loves that I still haven’t gotten into, The Wire. Comedy Central is finally releasing the entire first season of Kenny vs Spenny in the U.S., while on Blu-ray we’ve got a little bit of Van Damme and Seagal (not their finest works, unfortunately). Are you picking up anything this week?

  1. I thought Kenny vs. Spenny was hilarious when I first saw it. But then I realized that they were Canadian, from the monopoly money they were using, and I didn’t like it that much anymore. Just Kidding. You Canadians are all right. It’s a really good show. I wish more people had checked it out. I also wish it wasn’t playing on Comedy Central that late here in the US.

  2. nows a good time to start on the Wire, thats the last season on dvd… brilliant show.

  3. The Wire is good. If you end up getting into it and want to record a podcast I’d be game. I’ve been wanting to record a podcast about that show for awhile.
