Wonder Woman Animated Movie Trailer

While there seems to be little hope of seeing a live action Wonder Woman movie within the next couple of years, odds are it will be treated as a follow-up to the Justice League movie, if and when that happens. In the meantime, Warner Brothers has decided to make her the focus of their next direct-to-video animated feature. Directed by Lauren Montgomery (Superman: Doomsday), the Wonder Woman animated movie features Keri Russell as the voice of Diana, with additional voices provided by Rosario Dawson, Nathan Fillion, Virginia Madsen and Alfred Molina.

That’s a pretty impressive cast, but it’s still not really enough to pique my interest. I’ve kind of given up on these animated movies, especially after Justice League: The New Frontier ended up being just as bland as all the others. One interesting thing is that they are releasing two versions of the movie, one of which will be an “Unrated Director’s Cut”. I’m sure it’s probably just a marketing gimmick, but it seems like they’re feeling the need to amp up the violence a bit, which is okay by me. The first trailer has now appeared online… check out the video embedded below and see what you think. Wonder Woman will be released in February 2009.

  1. I wish they would ship all these American scripts off for complete Japanese production like Gotham Knight and Animatrix. We simply cannot touch the Japanese when it comes to 2-D animation.

  2. Oh yeah, it may not be just a gimmick…Superman coughs up blood in Superman: Doomsday and that was pretty awesome. If the latest Superman movie had the same framing, action, and script as that (which wasn’t even THAT great) it would have murdered Bryan Singers decision to negate the fact that we could have Supes fighting a superpowered guy instead of same ol’ Lex Luthor.

  3. It looks okay, but of the recent animated superhero films I’ve seen from Marvel and DC, I’ve yet to be impressed.

  4. I hate hate hate the look of these films. Cheap ass saturday morning cartoon quality that just gets on my nerves. I can’t stand watching these films like that.

  5. The new frontier ‘bland’? Surely you jest Seany?!

  6. I didn’t think The New Frontier was much different from the other animated features they’ve been putting out. I really liked the style of the opening credits, I only wish the rest of the movie had been like that too.

  7. This looks pretty kick ass to me…Doomsday I did not enjoy..but NEW FRONTIERS bland? You have to be joking..I thought that rocked!! Batman Dark Knight was original..but I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I might…I do applaud DC DIRECT for trying to do something different. this Wonder Woman Movie looks pretty damn good..Like that they are sticking to the mythology of the character..action looks great!

  8. As a self-proclaimed Wonder Woman fanatic, I have to admitt that this film’s overall look and feel seems pretty AWESOME!!! My only regret from watching the preview is that they got rid of her magical transformation, and I’m guessing her invisible jet will be no where to be seen. And I’m wondering if we’ll see her as Diana Prince as well. When these new versions of her come out, they move further and further away from what made her fun and exciting for me as a kid. This whole making her an ambassador and letting men on Themyscira and killing off the Queen, and Diana relinquishing her Princess status just bites!
