This Week on DVD: Aug. 5, 2008
In stores this week we have a good cross-section of new releases, from the Academy Award-winning film The Counterfeiters to the direct to video sequel Starship Troopers 3: Marauder. Also out this week is the killer croc movie Rogue, kid’s fantasy/adventure movie Nim’s Island, and Mark David Chapman biopic The Killing of John Lennon. If you’re more interested in TV releases, the first season of the original Get Smart is finally available in stores this week, along with season 4 of Family Ties, Masters of Science Fiction: The Complete Series, and the first season of G4’s animated series Code Monkeys. All this plus Starship Troopers on Blu-ray… not an amazing week, but not too shabby either.

I love the original movie but the first direct to DVD sequel featured the worst GCI effects Ive ever seen. It’s hard to get excited about Direct to DVD sequels as a whole!

Posted by joe on August 5th, 2008Starship Troopers 2 is among the worst movies I have ever seen, but I still want to check out the third one. The fact that Casper Van Dien is in it actually gives me a little hope for the film. And yes, I realize how stupid that sounds…
