This Week on DVD: July 29, 2008

It’s a pretty big week for DVD releases, and an even bigger week for Blu-ray. It seems like we have finally reached a point where almost every major release is issued simultaneously on DVD and Blu-ray, and the back catalogue titles just keep on coming. Notable releases this week include the Alex Proyas Director’s Cut of Dark City, Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones concert film Shine A Light, Neil Marshall’s Doomsday, and the second Harold & Kumar flick. Also this week we have two direct-to-DVD sequels to classic 80’s flicks, The Lost Boys: The Tribe and Wargames: The Dead Code. Meanwhile, Masters of Horror: Season 2 clearly get the nod for coolest packaging of the week… but seriously, who can fit that on their shelf?

  1. I am a big horror fan, but I find myself making excuses for Masters of Horror every time I watch an episode. It just has never lived up to what I had hoped it would be.

I’d like a release of the 1980’s “Tales from the Darkside.” That is a horror themed TV release I could get behind.

  2. Oh– the box art is cool, though.

  3. Can’t wait to see Doomsday
