This Week on DVD – July 22, 2008

Well it’s a ridiculously slow week for new DVDs, and I’m not quite sure why, but aside from the movie 21 there are no real major titles hitting stores today. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s Spaced: The Complete Series is finally released in North America after years of only being available as a Region 2 import. Other than that, there are some catalog Blu-ray releases including The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King, not to mention The Perfect Storm. The only other new release that looks interesting to me is the Daft Punk movie Electroma, which is finally being released through Vice Records. Do you see anything worth picking up?

LOL. The Legend of Zelda: The Power of the Triforce is the only one worth picking up. It’s so abhorently bad that it’s too funny to describe. Check it out on youtube or some other video streaming site. “Excuuuuse me, Princes.” is the catchphrase of the show that Link uses whenever he get’s the opportunity, like he’s Steve Martin or something.
Posted by Matt on July 22nd, 2008I believe TV Funhouse, the Robert Smigel Comedy Central version that is – also hits dvd today.
Posted by Goon on July 22nd, 2008Yay Spaced. All you film junkies go out and buy this if you don’t already own the UK-PAL version. Fabulous show.
Posted by Kurt on July 22nd, 2008…Oh, and existential-eco-horror THE LAST WINTER (James LeGros and Ron Perlman) is pretty awesome.
Posted by Kurt on July 22nd, 2008I have the bootleg of “Spaced” and it looks pretty awful, so I’ll probably pick up the official release.
Posted by Jon Rocks on July 22nd, 2008The Last Winter sucks. It’s eco-lite horror for sycophantic environmentalists who don’t actually know anything about the environment or science.
Though Daft Punk’s Electroma is fucking awesome. That is definitely on my must own list.
