Neil Burger’s The Lucky Ones Trailer

The first trailer for Neil Burger’s highly-anticipated follow-up to The Illusionist has arrived online, and it looks like it has all the makings of a box office dud! Not unlike Kimberly Peirce’s Stop-Loss, The Lucky Ones focuses on three Iraq War veterans (played by Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins and Michael Peña) after they return home and attempt to reconnect with their lives.

There’s a bit of comedy sprinkled throughout, although the overall tone still seems pretty gloomy. To be honest, it looks kinda dull if you ask me, and it’s likely to be just another message movie that no one sees (unless it gets nominated for a few Oscars, that is). It is cool to see Rachel McAdams being given a chance to show she can handle more than just romantic comedies, however. The Lucky Ones hits theatres September 26th; check out the trailer below.

  1. All I can say is: meh.

  2. I second that. So this is “Neil Burger’s highly-anticipated follow-up to The Illusionist”? Highly-anticipated by who? Neil Burger himself I imagine. The Illusionist was below meh.
