They even had a Psycho version. I hope Mattel follows their lead. And I imagine these film-themed Barbie dolls do fairly well with collectors or they wouldn't keep making them. They're clearly taking the light-hearted approach in explaining this decision to their longtiome Barbie fans with lines like "Will these plastic birds damage her delightful handbag or her carefully styled hair?", while in the next scene of the picture above she might as well be dead with her eyes pecked out. I read that some car makers will not license their cars to be featured in video games where the player can massively demage the cars (like Burnout, Flatout, and Stuntman.) If that's true then that would certainly make Mattel braver by comparison. I still don't know who would buy these dolls though, what with the high price, nature of Barbie fans, non-fans' repulsion for Barbie products, and lack of gore. Maybe Barbie-Hitchcock fans who have no idea what things are worth. But whoever buys it would be very wise to keep in it the packaging.
