Michelle Williams Planning Film Tribute to Heath Ledger

All the early buzz about The Dark Knight indicates that Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker is so good that it may be worthy of a post-humous Oscar nod. Indeed, that would seem a fitting final tribute to the man, and while I can’t say as of yet whether or not I think he deserves it, I do think that people are still really saddened by his death and looking for a way to cope. Most of all, his wife Michelle Williams is in the early planning stages for a special tribute of her own.

According to Showbiz Spy (which may or may not be a reliable source), Williams is planning to make a movie about Ledger’s life, primarily as a way for their two-year-old daughter Matilda to learn about him. It’s unclear what exactly this might entail, but it sounds like the project would be a documentary of sorts, with the hopes of recruiting his “friends and co-stars to share their stories on him so little Matilda can see her father through their eyes”. It’s also not clear whether or not this would be strictly a personal thing or if it would be released to the public, but something tells me that a Heath Ledger documentary or biopic is something that would be very well-received, if done right. What do you think… is this something you would like to see?

  1. I don’t know if that would be such a good idea. In order to make it interesting and truthful, they’d have to show some of his not so proud moments detailing his drug problems and mental issues. I’ve read some pretty weird things about his last days. Apparently he had a hard time getting away from his Joker character.

  2. Why not? I’d say a biopic wouldn’t really work because its not like he led the life of Ian Curtis.

  3. I agree with Danno. If their wee a bio pic then you’d have to show some of the seedier side of his life and I think based on what I read he had some real mental issues to deal with. Especially if its a pic for his daughter to see some day.

  4. oscars are meaningless at this point, emenem has one, an american idol contestant has one, 3-6 mafia has one…just give it to ledger…who cares

  5. I agree that Oscars aren’t nearly as valuable. 3-6 Mafia alone was the academy’s attempt to prove that they are “hip.” It’s awful the amount of gaffes that the oscars have come up with over the last few years. Sad, really.

  6. they weren’t married..

Well, considering the fact that she has no talent of her own, she might as well find something to occupy her time. And they weren’t married.
