New To Theatres This Weekend – June 27, 2008

Once again, it’s another summer weekend with two big movies going head to head… and not much else. Pixar’s Wall-E is out today, and it seems to be getting the usual perfect marks from reviewers, meanwhile Timur Bekmambetov’s Wanted is being called by many the best action movie of the summer, hands down. I think we all know which one is going to make more money, but which one would you rather see? The only limited release this week is IFC’s The Last Mistress starring Asia Argento.
Wanted
Wall-E

I may check out Wanted. There was a long trailer for it on TV (probably a minute spot or more?) and it was a really good one. Made me want to see it.

Posted by Brett on June 27th, 2008Poor, poor The Last Mistress. I’ll be suprised if it opens in the top 20 this weekend. I would much rather see Wall-E than Wanted. Wanted just looks too much like Mr. and Mrs. Smith to me. I wonder why? Anyway, I am still waiting for the best action movie… and superhero movie, police drama, romantic comedy… called THE DARK KNIGHT. Maybe not the last one so much, but it’s gonna be sweet.
